10 Innovations Expected in the iPhone 6

iPhone 6 can be called the most anticipated gadget of the year. Probably none of the devices has the army of fans, which so closely examines the leaks about the new model of the popular smartphone emerging from time to time. End users started to share their expectations regarding the next iPhone immediately after the presentation of last year’s iPhones 5s and 5c. And, apparently, at least some of their hopes will actualize in the iPhone 6.
“Gazeta” examined user expectations regarding the upcoming gadget and listed the most popular ones.
1. Bigger screen
When choosing a new smartphone, most people prefer devices with large screens. In comparison with Android flagships the 4-inch iPhone’s display looks quite modest. Not surprisingly, the emergence of a new model of iPhone with a larger screen is one of the most popular among the users wishes.
According to the repeatedly confirmed rumors, users will get as much as two iPhone 6 models this fall. The first will be equipped with a 4.7-inch screen, and the second is to be a full-fledged phablet with a 5.5-inch screen. However, it is possible that only 4.7-inch model will be represented in the fall of 2014 and the larger iPhone launch may be postponed until the very end of the year.
2. A more capacious battery
Despite the fact that the combination of a long-lasting battery life with a powerful processor and impressive graphics is an utopia, this is what people want. If Apple is able to release an iPhone, capable of doing longer without charging than the current flagship, it will be a great success for the company.
iPhone 5s and 5s can go a little longer without charging than the iPhone 5. Given the significantly improved performance this is a plus. However, many users do not want to be content with what they have. iPhone’s poor battery capacity made their competitors joke: not so long ago Samsung shot an infomercial in which they called iPhone users “embracing the walls”.
3. Improved camera
Apple iPhone camera evolved with each new model. iPhone 5s received a matrix with a 15% bigger sensor, 5-lens objective, as well as a dual LED-backlight. The camera has a True Tone flash, which automatically adjusts over 1,000 combinations of colors and their intensity, making photos taken with a flash more natural.
However, the resolution of the images stopped at 8 megapixels, although experts expected that iPhone 5s 5c would be able to take 13-megapixel photos. Now this is expected from the iPhone 6.
4. A model with 128 GB memory
128 GB SD memory cards of went on sale back in 2013. This additional space can be utilized by the users of Android-devices. At the same time, the maximum memory capacity of the iPhone is 64 GB. For many, this was enough, but after the emergence of iPad models with 128 GB users want more memory in the iPhones as well.
5. Ultimate waterproofing
There is no accurate statistics on how many smartphones drown in bathrooms, toilets and other water containers daily. However, it is known that a huge lot of gadgets is getting killed this way.
Many manufacturers paid attention to this fact, and smartphones and tablets moisture protection has become one of the main trends of the year. Last summer, Samsung released a waterproof version of Galaxy S4 called Active, and this year they made their flagship Galaxy S5 watertight. Sony made waterproofing their hallmark: their smartphones and tablets do not care about dust and moisture.
6. Improved processor and graphics
People are always expecting a new smartphone to be “smarter” and faster than its predecessor is. They place such hopes on the iPhone 6. In turn, Apple improves the graphics capabilities of each new iPhone model.
When the company unveiled iPhone 5s, it became known that the new 64-bit A7 chip is twice as productive as the chips of the previous A6 generation, used in the iPhone 5 and 5c. A7 is the most efficient of the mobile chips from Apple. It allows you to shoot up to 10 frames per second in burst mode, as well as 720p video at 120 frames per second.
There is no info on how much more powerful the A8 chip used in the iPhone 6 will be, but Apple will find a way to improve A7.
7. Widgets and customizable “home” screen
The ability to use widgets to create shortcuts to the most frequently used applications on the Home screen of your smartphone is one of the most popular Android features among the users. iOS gives fewer opportunities to adjust the smartphone to fit your needs. And users, especially those who switched from Android-devices to the iPhone, lack this a lot.
8. Siri in local languages
Apple’s voice assistant Siri now has serious competition: this is Google Now voice control, available on Android, and Cortana digital assistant by Microsoft. In iOS 7 Siri received a number of new features. For example, users can choose a male or a female voice, yet functionality Siri is still limited.
9. Wireless charging
Today, if an owner wants to charge their iPhone gadget not sticking additional wires, they will have to buy a special case that will be able to work together with a charging pad.
But some flagships, such as LG G3 or Nokia Lumia 920 can be charged “on the mat” immediately: they already have the inductive charging chip integrated. This function was expected from iPhone 5s, and over the past year after the premiere of the gadget expectations only just went up.
10. NFC module
Near Field Communication – NFC – a technology that allows devices to communicate data at a distance of about 10 centimeters. NFC devices can communicate with the existing smartcards and ISO 14443 readers, and other devices with NFC. Thus with the help of the gadgets one can make a cash payment, and go through a turnstile in the subway.
Smartphones and tablets that support NFC have already started appearing in the market, yet this technology is still far from being widespread. If Apple introduces support for this feature in the iPhone 6, it will not only make users life easier, but also set the corporation as a trendsetter – as it was, for example, in the case of the Touch ID.
