145 Apple Stores in the U.S. are 100% Supplied with Renewable Energy

Apple has published an annual report on environmental liability based on the results for the 2014 fiscal year (2014 Environmental Responsibility Report). The information on the achievements of the company published on the website is pertinent to its environmental initiatives.
According to the report, Apple continues to work on the implementation of tasks to improve the environment, including the use of renewable energy, eco-friendly materials and saving valuable resources in order to reduce the harmful effects of the climate change.
As noted in the report, despite the increase in energy consumption by 44% over 2011 to 2013, emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) in Apple enterprises declined by 31%.
The company reported that they re-calculated the data for carbon emissions for 2012 in accordance with the new methodology used to measure the outcome from 2013. As it turned out, in 2013 as compared with 2012, the volume of emissions of carbon dioxide by Apple plants declined by 3 %. It?s been the first time since 2009 when they registered a decline in CO2 emissions. That’s when the company started monitoring these indicators.
The report stated that 145 Apple retail stores in the U.S. and all of its trading posts in Australia are 100% provided with energy from renewable sources. By means of this Apple saved 28.5 million kWh of electricity and 750 thousand terms of natural gas.
In addition, the employees commute subsidy program allowed Apple to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 15 thousand cars. As promised by Apple the new campus under construction will be the most energy efficient building, fully provided with energy from renewable sources. In addition, they will plant seven thousand trees.
