4.7- and 5.7-Inch iPhones to Be Released, Foxconn Confirm

Foxconn reports that it will launch the production of two next-generation iPhones — a 4.7-inch screen device (probably iPhone 6) and a 5.7-inch screen device — by the end of the third quarter.

The shipments of 4.7-inch iPhone are reported to start in July. By the beginning of 2015 Foxconn expects to supply 70% of such devices. Moreover, they point out that 4.7-inch gadgets, along with 4-inch smartphones, are expected to become the main source of Apple’s income in the corresponding segment.

The mass production of 5.5-inch iPhones will begin in August.

Thus we may assume that both devices will go on sale during the third quarter. Apple is unlikely to have any problems with the devices supply, so the Cupertino company will be able to meet the consumer demand completely.

According to the estimates, nearly 266.9 million smartphones were supplied in the first quarter of 2014 worldwide. That is 1.13% more than in the last quarter of 2013. Apple was the second largest producer (after Samsung) with the share of 13.6% against 19.4% in the fourth quarter of 2013.
