About 83% of the Apps in the App Store Were Referred to as ?Zombies?

Publishing the achievements of their online stores, Apple and Google often highlight the number of the applications available. However, according to the latest reports, nearly 83% of the games and apps in the App Store are ?dead?, and there are no signs of improvement.
By ?zombie apps? the Adjust analysts mean such projects that don?t belong to any of the 40,000 App Store charts and virtually go unnoticed by the users.
Most owners of the iOS devices look out for various ratings when choosing an application. If the app is not on the lists, it is not popular, and the number of the downloads is minimum or even equals zero. Thus, the user ignores it even having found it accidentally. According to the Adjust report, over 1.13 million out of nearly 1.37 million apps in the App Store belong to ?zombies?.
The analysts pointed to a tendency unfavorable for Apple. The relation between the downloaded ?undead? and ?dead? applications is constantly changing with the latter ones leading. Thus, there were 74% of ?zombie apps? at the beginning of the last year and 83% of them at the end of it.
The Adjust company specializes in monitoring the users? behavior after they download the app, as well as retargeting. With the help of the service, marketing experts can learn in which way and how often people use the app, and how much time they spend in it. The real-time analytics of the platform also allows monitoring where the most valuable users come from.
