Android-Tablets did Two Times Better than the iPad in the Worldwide Sales in the First Quarter

The global sales of the Android-tablets had twice more devices sold than the iPad in the first quarter of 2014, stated the message of the Strategy Analytics analyst company.
57.6 million tablet computers were sold worldwide in the first quarter of 2014, which is by 19 percent more than a year earlier.
The sales of Android-devices accounted for 37.9 million units, or 65.8 percent of the total devices sold. Apple sold 16.4 million iPads, or 28.4 percent of all the tablets.
A year earlier, the shares of these devices in the global sales were not so much different: 53.0 for Android-devices and 40.3 percent for the iPad. The difference in the market shares increased because in absolute terms, the sales of Android-tablets increased by 48 percent within the year (last year 25.6 million units were sold) and the sales of the iPad fell by 16 percent.
Despite the increase in sales in absolute terms from 2.8 to 3.4 million units, the share of Windows-tablets did not change in the first quarter of 2014 as compared with the same period a year earlier ? 5.8 percent.
Just to mention that the sales of tablets running OSs ??other than the three listed above, were below default level in the quarter. In the first quarter of the last year, they accounted for nearly one percent of the market, or 400,000 units.
