Apple to Launch Low-cost iPhone 6 with 4-inch Display Soon After WWDC 2013

For a couple of months now, the rumor mill speculates that Apple is ready to penetrate the budget smartphone market with a new and affordable iPhone model that will have a price tag that tops $250.
Since the cheap iPhone 6 has made the headlines lately, exciting both the Apple fans and smartphone enthusiasts, today we find out from DigiTimes that the low-cost iPhone will come with a 4-inch display, Apple A6 chipset, a plastic case, that it will be officially announced at WWDC 2013 and that it will hit the store shelves soon after Apple’s yearly developers conference.
The same source says that Apple has prepared an initial stock of 2.5 – 3 million units that will help the company test the public’s reaction to the low-cost iPhone, and if the demand reaches the expectations, the production volumes will be increased.
If the rumors are accurate, the budget iPhone should borrow the front panel of the iPhone 5, it will have the same technical specifications, but it will sport a plastic case and a much lower price. To be honest, I find it hard to believe that Apple will launch a cheap iPhone with the same hardware platform as the iPhone 5, as this move would significantly reduce the sales of its latest iOS-powered smartphone. On the other hand, the demand for a cheap model might be capable of compensating the loses.
In my opinion the rumored launch of the low-cost iPhone 6 at WWDC 2013 is not likely, and if Apple launches it it would not come pre-loaded with iOS 7, as the Cupertino-based giant has made a habit out of keeping the beta iOS 7 in tests for at least two months before it reaches the final version.
