Apple?s CEO Tim Cook repeatedly mocked the Android platform in his speeches, highlighting the advantages of the iOS ecosystem. Now the Cupertino company has decided to take up the other approach. They are going to launch the trade-in program for users of smartphones running the operating system from Google. The information was provided by the 9to5Mac edition.

Apple is preparing to launch a campaign in which the owners of the phones other than iPhones can get gift cards for the purchase of iOS devices. You only need to bring your old gadget to the store and the company?s employee will determine its value. Subsequently, the respective amount of money will be credited to the gift card, which can be used to pay for the purchase of a new smartphone. The money can be spent when buying iPhone, iPad, or other devices in retail stores of the Californian company.

It is noted that Apple will accept only the gadgets in the resalable condition. The company promises a minimum amount of several hundred dollars. The offer will be launched in the coming weeks.

Apple announced the trade-in program for iPhone in August 2013. Later it became available in British, German, French and Australian Apple Stores. For example, you can get up to $250 for a 16 GB version of iPhone 5s in good condition. However, it is impossible to cash such a card out. At the same time, under the terms of the program, new devices have to be locked to the mobile phone operator and activated on the spot.

It is believed that Apple?s trade-in program is a means to encourage users switch to the new iPhones. The customers who decide to upgrade only need to bring their old devices to Apple Store, and their cost will be included to the payment of the new ones.
