Cheap iPhone Lite Might Actually Be Called iPhone 5C

iPhone 5C 400x250 Cheap iPhone Lite Might Actually Be Called iPhone 5C

Even though Apple has repeatedly denied the rumors saying that an affordable iPhone is in the works, all the hints are suggesting that the Cupertino-based phone maker is ready to penetrate the mid-range smartphone market with a new iOS-powered smartphone.

After we’ve seen dozens of leaked iPhone Lite cases and even got to see the terminal fully assembled a couple of times, a Chinese forum quoted by CNet has revealed what it seems to be the packaging of the budget iPhone.

Therefore, we learn that the budget iPhone will actually be called iPhone 5C. Even though you might be tempted to believe that “C” stands for cheap, it looks like the “C” is stands for colors, as the iPhone 5C will be available in at least 6 body liveries.

We’ve seen the iPhone 5C (back then known as budget iPhone or iPhone Lite) posing next to the iPhone 5 a couple of days ago,  and we can already confirm that it will come with a 4-inch display. In order to avoid any more fragmentation inside the App Store, Apple will probably keep the resolution of the iPhone 5 on the display of the iPhone 5C.

Of course, since everybody is anticipating that the iPhone 5C will be an affordable smartphone aiming at the mid-range segment it will most likely borrow some of the components of its predecessors. Thus, the iPhone 5C will be powered by either the A5 chipset of the iPhone 4S or by the A6 chipset of the iPhone 5. If the Cupertino-based company will choose the later one as the processing solution of the iPhone 5C, then the budget iPhone will replace the iPhone 5 in the Apple Store and this year’s flagship will no longer be available for purchase.

Also expect 1 GB of RAM to be fitted under the plastic body of the iPhone 5C, along with the 8 megapixel iSight sensor of the iPhone 5, and probably LTE support if the Apple A6 chipset makes it under the hood of the affordable iPhone.

Unfortunately, the above information is yet to be confirmed by official sources, thus we are advising you to take the laked picture of the iPhone 5C packaging with a pinch of salt, especially because the design of the case doesn’t seem to match with the ones used for the previous iPhones.
