Cheaper Galaxy Note 3 Model To Feature LCD Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 32 400x250 Cheaper Galaxy Note 3 Model To Feature LCD Display

You might remember some rumors suggesting that the upcoming entry in the Galaxy Note line, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, will be released with an LCD display. It appear that these rumors were actually true, as a recent report from South Korea mentions that the Galaxy Note 3 version that will be released in emergent markets (such as Africa, India etc.) will be manufactured using cheap components.

According to ETNews, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 units that will be released in the aforementioned emerging markets will feature an LCD display, instead of the AMOLED panel that will be used in the other versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The same units that will be offered in emerging markets will also feature an 8 MP camera, instead of a 13 MP camera as the normal versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

This is intended to reduce production costs for the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, which means that Samsung will probably be able to sell these phablets for a cheaper price in emergent markets. While the report does not mention anything about a cheaper price, it does mention the amount of phablets destined for these emergent markets. Of the initial Galaxy Note 3 batch, 30% of the units will go to these emergent markets.

Regarding the international version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, it is set to be released with a 5.7 inch display with AMOLED panel, offering a full HD resolution (1080p) and it will be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset (quad core, clocked at 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU) or an Exynos 5420 chipset (quad core clocked at 1.8 GHz Cortex A15 CPU + quad core low-energy 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 CPU and octo core Mali T628 GPU), depending on the version.

The latest reports indicate that Samsung is having problems with its own Exynos 5 Octa SoC, as it is overheating, so it seems that the first four million Galaxy Note 3 units will arrive with a Snapdragon 800 SoC. Also, if the rumors are true, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for emerging markets will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship CPU.

It is also rumored that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet will be the first in the world to come with 3 GB of RAM, It is also rumored that the upcoming phablet will follow the same design philosophy as the Samsung Galaxy S4, that was released earlier this year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come in three storage versions: 15 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB and it will also feature support for microSD cards. Regarding connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will offer anything you would expect from a high end device in 2013: WiFi in all standards, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, microUSB 2.0, NFC module, 4G LTE, and infra red blaster.

Regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 3′s camera, as we already mentioned, the international version will come with a 13 MP camera sensor, the same camera that was being used earlier this year in the Samsung Galaxy S4. It will also include optical image stabilization and support for shooting 4K videos. The cheaper version for emergent markets will come with an 8 MP camera sensor and without optical image stabilization.

The phablet will most likely run Android 4.3 jelly Bean with Samsung’s own TouchWiz Nature UX user interface on top of it. You can also expect S Pen optimized apps and features. Speaking of the S Pen, it will be an improved version, as Samsung recently purchased 5% in Wacom shares, the famous graphic tablet maker from Japan. With the HTC One Max and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra also being released this year, it seems it will be a very crowded end of the year for the phablet market; this also means the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have strong competition.
