The competition is extremely high in the smartphone market, so mobile device manufacturers have to look for some new development options. One of them is associated with the development of wearable computers in a form of smartwatches. But such products are bound to fail unless they are released by Apple or Samsung.

Jan Dawson, a Jackdaw Research analyst, believes that Apple and Samsung will run the smartphone market in the near future, while other manufacturers will only have minor shares. The expert recommends those who are merely starting their business in this market to go back on their decision and consider manufacturing of other products as soon as possible. According to Jackdaw Research, Apple has the leading position in the smartwatch market despite the fact that the company has not released any gadget of such kind yet.

?We strongly recommend that manufacturers reduce the volume of investments in this market, as prospects and revenues remain questionable here. We would advise most would-be vendors to stay out of the market?, said Dawson.

Along with Apple, such brands as Motorola, ASUS, HTC, Sony and even HP are going to launch their smartwatches this year. According to the analyst, all of them are doomed to fail. Nowadays Samsung controls 78% of the American smartwatch market, and the other 18% is owned by Pebble, which is one of the pioneers. It is assumed that the iWatch launch will undermine the positions of the actual leaders quite badly.

According to rumors, the Apple smartwatch will be released this fall at $ 350. At least, this is exactly the price tag consumers expect. The new Apple gadget will feature a bunch of sensors and stylish design. However, its ecosystem will be its main highlight.
