A great update has been released when it comes to jailbreaking the iOS devices. It comes from iH8snow and it refers to snowbreeze. Actually, the software was brought to version 2.9.8. This update means first of all support for the iOS 6X untethered jailbreak and, secondly, there are some great improvements, as you will see. Even if just a few days the evasion tool for Windows and Mac has been released, there are people who are interested in snowbreeze tool for untethered jailbereak also.
You should really give it a try, even if it has some weak points. First, it is the fact that it is a Windows only tool and does not support other operating systems. Also, the fact that it does not support newer versions of iOS is not so cool, still if you have an older device, this is the perfect choice. Why? Well, let’s see what the 2.9.8 release brought to the users:
New for Snowbreeze 2.9.8
- It has 5.2/6.0.x/6.1 untethered , which is provided by evaders.
- iOS 6.1 support f for iPhone 3GS and A4 devices.
- The Hacktivation issues on 6 o.x. are fixed
- Some of the iFaith mode bugs which were an issue are now fixed.
If you own an Apple TV 2 you should know that the tool is currently unavailable (for e.g. XBMC is currently broken). So, we recommend you not to upgrade until everything is updated and available for the tool
How to downgrade to Snowbreeze 2.9.8
First, you should be sure you download the IPSW for your device. Then select it on your device and you will asked to browse the SHSH blobs for the selected IPSW.
You should keep in mind though to enter a PWNED DFU state using the tool as if follows: select the REB button in the top bar of the tool next to Shift +Restoring and choose the custom signed IPSW.
Other important stuff about Snowbreeze
You should know that snowbreeze will not be able to work on A5(X)/A6(X) devices as there is no low-level exploit in DFU or iboot which was made public yet.
Also, for the users who use A5(X)/A6(X) devices, we have no good news regarding the baseband. Still, if you want to hacktivate you can buy the SIM of the provided career from ebay.The good thing is that the SIM should not necessary be activated to the phone.
Bugs not fixed yet for Snowbreeze
- In order to run snowbreeze from Windows 8 you should use the workaround provided.
- For the Apple TV 2 and 5.1/ 5.2 firmware there are some bugs, which will be fixed for the next updates.
- iPad baseband does not flash on iOS 4.0 –> iOS 4.2.1 restores.
- iPod Touch 2G4.x.x will be fixed soon, as now it fails to restore.
We hope that in the near future iH8snow will update all these and more for the version of Snowbreeze on Windows, but also for Mac. The app will also let you know if the device might be jailbroken or not and it also helps you see the SHSH blobs available on Cydia.
