Dual Boot Android And Windows Phone Smartphones To Be Released This Year

Intel already announced that it will make chips that will power dual booting computers; these computers can switch from Android to Windows and back with the press of a button. This seems to be a trend that smartphone manufacturers pursue too, as Microsoft just announced that Karbonn Mobiles (a telecommunication firm in India which was founded in March 2009) is going to make dual booting smartphones, that will be able to switch between Android and Windows Phone 8 with the press of a button.
As reported by The Times of India, Karbonn Mobiles and Microsoft signed a deal that allows Karbonn Mobiles to manufacture dual booting (Android and Windows Phone 8) smartphones which Microsoft intends to release in about half a year. While we are not sure what the exact advantage of such a smartphone will be (besides have options, we suppose), Karbonn Mobiles will also manufacture Windows Phone smartphones and they will be released earlier than the predicted six months estimate for the dual boot smartphones. Sudhir Hasija, chairman of Karbonn Mobiles said: “Microsoft has eased the regulations and is opening up its platform for other players. We signed the agreement two days ago and will launch a range of Windows Phones in about three months“.
There have also been recent rumors about Microsoft supposedly asking HTC to install the Windows Phone 8 mobile Operating System on the Taiwanese company’s smartphones. Windows Phone 8 would be another option for HTC users but for now it is only a rumor. As we already reported, Microsoft is prepping its first major update to Windows Phone 8, an update that was already released as a preview to Windows Phone 8 devs, on February 10. According to rumors, the update will introduce Microsoft’s own intelligent personal assistant named Cortana (and it would have a role similar to Siri); the update will also allow users to set a custom Start Screen wallpaper, support for dual SIM and on screen buttons. The update will also allow manufacturers to make Windows Phone 8 powered smartphones with only 4 GB of internal storage. The final version of Windows Phone 8.1 will be made available to Windows Phone 8 devs in early April.
