Every Third Tablet in the Market is the iPad

The experts from the Strategy Analytics company analyzed the global tablets market. According to their findings, the volumes of iPad shipments in the first quarter of the 2014th grew by 19% as compared to the same period of the 2013th, and every third tablet in the market is the iPad. And it is against the background of speculations about the Apple?s tablets sales being allegedly out on a limb.

The sales of the iPad, as well as the Apple’s share of this market are actually going down – but the breakdown is far away. Yes, instead of 40.3 % share of the market in the first quarter last year, Apple now only has 28.4%. But first – this is a huge success (because Apple is compared directly with the whole Android segment having 65.8% of the market, not with a single company). And second, a drop sales even by 16% (as the one we observe) actually on the eve of the new generation devices release is not so critical.

Analysts believe that the end of the year, when the shelves will boast of the iPad Air 2 and the third version of new iPad 3 Mini, Apple will easily reclaim the stance lost.

The Windows share in the tablet market is still only 5.8%, yet experts are rather optimistic in their forecasts: in their opinion, the Microsoft’s decision to make their operating system for tablets free will have beneficial effect on its progress.
