First Screenshots of Firefox for iOS Posted

Last December, it was reported that Mozilla was going to release an iOS version of Firefox. The network has recently got the first screenshots of the browser, thus you can check out the interface of the upcoming app.
It should be said that Mozilla changed their mind about Firefox for iPhone and iPad. The company used to claim that the program wouldn?t appear on the platform as long as Apple would go on with its unfriendly policy considering third-party web browsers. Presently, all the third-party browsers for iOS use the UIWebView component to display web pages. At the same time, Apple uses a different and faster JavaScript processing engine which is called Nitro.
Apple neither gives third-party developers access to the Nitro engine nor allows them to use their own ones. As a result, Safari has a higher performance than any other browsers on the platform.
Now Mozilla decided to bring its fast engine IonMonkey featured in the Android versions of the browser into the platform. A few years ago, the company demonstrated a prototype browser for iPad. It was code-named Junior and used Apple?s UIWebView. As Mozilla noted, there are many reasons why they should be on iOS, although they can?t use their rendering engine there.
Even if Firefox has to use the Apple?s technology, there will still be the possibility of bookmarks and history cloud syncing, as well as all the other options available for Firefox users on Android. As it can be judged by the screenshots, Mozilla decided to bring all the basic features of the app to iOS.
David Degan, the chief software architect of Dolphin Browser, previously expressed confidence that the competition on the iOS platform is very important for survival. Meanwhile, Opera Software believes that giving users the choice is quite important for the development of web browsers and the Internet in the whole.
