Every month you see rumors about Samsung releasing its next generation smartphones with a flexible LCD display. These rumors appeared before Samsung Galaxy Note 2′s release, then they appeared again before the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released and this year you saw flexible display rumors regarding the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Yet, again and again these rumors prove to be false as every generation of Samsung smartphones has been released with the same flat display panel that we know. But now it is that time of the month when flexible display rumors appear again and surprisingly, the rumored device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (again) and a next generation smartphone.

Of course, as we already mentioned, even before its unveiling the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was rumored to be released in four hardware variants. This was partially confirmed when the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled on September 4th, at the IFA event in Berlin. The third Galaxy Note was announced to be released in two hardware versions: one version powered by the Snapdragon 800 System on Chip, while the other version being powered by the Exynos Octa System on Chip. Rumors suggest a new (for now unannounced) hardware variant will also be released this year and it will actually be a low end Galaxy Note 3, with a flat LCD display and an 8 MP camera sensor.

Now a report from South Korea suggests Samsung intends to release a high end version of its newly announced Galaxy Note 3; it seems the high end Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be released in October, in limited quantities and it will come with the long rumored flexible OLED display and also with a metal body. Some of you may remember this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, held in January, when Samsung showed a prototype smartphone with flexible display technology; we assume the high end Galaxy Note 3 will be similar to the prototype shown at CES 2013 in January. In the below picture you can see the CES 2013 prototype, featuring a flexible display.

Some of you may wonder why release a flexible display Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in a limited edition. Well, as you know the South Korean company likes to experiment with new technologies and features by introducing them in variants of already existing devices. Flexible OLED is a young technology and Samsung may not want to start mass production yet; a limited edition Galaxy Note 3 variant could be the perfect opportunity to test the flexible disploay technology. And it seems that we will get a flexible OLED Galaxy Note 3 sooner then we though as the South Korean company is rumored to release the first flexible display devices in November this year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is scheduled to be released on September 25th in International markets, while the United States and Japan markets will receive the device next month.
