Galaxy S5 To Feature An Upgraded Camera

Samsung recently released the third generation Galaxy Note phablet and, as rumors have it, is preparing to launch the next Galaxy S flagship, next year. In the past couple of weeks we had plenty of Galaxy S5 related rumors and it seems that the next entry in the Galaxy S line will focus on its camera sensor.
Latest rumors suggest that Samsung intends to start the mass production of an updated 13 MP camera lens for its upcoming smartphones that will be released in the first part of 2014. Tech On, a Japanese technology website claims the Samsung Electro-Mechanics subsidiary has been working on a new model of 13 MP lens that will fix the problems of the current Samsung Galaxy S4 13 MP lens.
The new 13 MP lens will feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and it will also allow the correction of angular errors of up to 1.5 degrees, over twice the anti shake correction that you usually see in most smartphone cameras available today. The new lens will also perform better in low light environments (for example taking pictures at parties or in the evening); pictures taken in low light conditions with the new camera are said to be eight times brighter than pictures taken with the Samsung Galaxy S4′s camera. The new camera lens will keep the current lens’ dimensions, so there is not reason to think that the upgraded camera will enlarge the smartphones in which it will be used.
The recently released Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet is equipped with the same 13 MP camera sensor as the Samsung Galaxy S4. The third generation Galaxy Note was rumored to be released with a camera featuring optical image stabilization, but it clearly wasn’t the case so now rumors hint at the Samsung Galaxy S5 being the first Samsung product to introduce the optical image stabilization feature to the Galaxy series.
Recent Galaxy S5 related rumors suggested the South Korean company has already started prototyping a Galaxy S5 with a metal body and will begin production of a metal body by the end of this year. Samsung is rumored to sign deals for third party suppliers to mass produce a metal body for the next year’s entry in the Galaxy S line. If these rumors are true and mass production for the Samsung Galaxy S5′s metal casing will start by the end of 2013 and the mass production of the new and improved 13 MP camera lens will start early next year, then the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be release during next year’s second quarter, probably around the same period that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released.
Besides the two rumored features (an improved 13 MP camera lens and a metal body), not much is known about the upcoming Galaxy S5. But things will change pretty soon as more rumors and leaks will start to appear. If we look back before the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released, rumors were almost all correct in what they predicted about the current Galaxy S smartphone. What are your thoughts on the next Galaxy S?
