The Google Fit application was first announced at the Google I/O conference in June. Starting today users can download it from Google Play Store for smartphones and tablets operating Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later versions.
With sensors built in smartphones and wearable gadgets, the service automatically logs when its user is walking, running or cycling. Users can also set different fitness goals and keep track of their achievement.
Google Fit can work not only with smartphones and tablet computers, but also with wearable gadgets operating Android Wear system. Moreover it can work with some household appliances such as smart scales. Users can also connect third-party fitness devices and apps such as Strava, Runtastic or Runkeeper and their data will be integrated in Google Fit.
‘If the user permits, the apps will get the access to all the fitness data stream and, thanks to the additional context, will be able to give more precise recommendations,’ – comments the Google.
Technology-assisted fitness activity control is one of the market trends. ‘Health’ app that also integrates different fitness services’ data has become part of iOS 8. The data on one’s health condition, sports statistics, sleep and nutrition schedule are also integrated in the program.
