Google Rumored To Also Join The SmartWatch Race

Google Smartwatch Google Rumored To Also Join The SmartWatch Race

If we had to talk about a smartwatch last year during this period, we wouldn’t have had much to say about it. Even though a few similar products were released by the companies Motorola and Sony, none of them was able to wow the public. However, the smartwatch space seems to be an area that bigger companies would like to explore from now on, and it seems that the 3 biggest tech companies are already turning it into a battlefield.

Soon after we found out that the giants Apple and Samsung are showing interest into creating these new devices, the smartphone – connected watches, we stumbled upon a new report, published by the Financial Times, in which it is  clearly stated that Google’s platform, Android is going to create a smartwatch product as well.

The Times report also claims that Google’s intentions are more than obvious, considering that they keep investing resources into the Google Class project. More than that, according to sources inside the X lab, it seems like the new wristwatch is going to be an extension to the devices running on the same operating system. The sources also claim that this project has nothing to do with that of Samsung, and that for now we don’t know when it’s going to see the light of day.

However, this type of information doesn’t surprise us anymore. And we wouldn’t be surprised either, if Google would soon launch its new wristwatch smart device. After all, the Pebble was received with great interest by the consumers of this new market, and it was quite the success at the moment. So there you have it, people seem to be very fund of wearable computers.

Another thing that raises a question mark is that Google seems to be holding this project for itself, as well as Samsung. Each company is going to bring on the market a different product. We heard rumors according to which, the two giants are having some misunderstandings and Samsung decided to put some distance between it and Google’s Android unit.

Returning to the smart watches, we keep hearing chatter over Apple’s ongoing project, the iWatch. Even though they are working on it for quite a while now, rumors started to intensify again in the past 2 or 3 months. Even Bloomberg stated last month, that nearly 100 designers are working now on the looks of the new iWatch.

What we don’t know for now is what the watch is going to look like, size shape and so on, and we don’t know either it’s actual capabilities. Rumors speculated so far, only its capacities to connect with the iPhone in order to initiate phone calls and to manage the notification panel.

Samsung on the other hand, also confirmed that they are working on a smart watch device. Lee Young Hee, the executive vice president of the giant, stated in a declaration from earlier this week that the product exists in their labs as well. However, we don’t know its launch date either, as we don’t know it in the case of Apple or Google.

What’s your opinion regarding Google getting into the smartwatch market?
