How Do I delete photos from the iPad? Full How To Guide

Deleting photos from your iPad device is as easy as deleting any other file. If you no longer wish to keep a certain set of photos on your iPad or are just trying to free up more space for your other files, we’ll teach you how to do it. Let’s say you saved a bunch of photos from the Internet and stored them on your tablet. You have placed them on your tablet by either downloading them or syncing them through iTunes. It may also be that you chose to upload them to the device via WiFi.

To delete them you first have to locate these files. You do this by tapping the Photos icon on the screen. This will start the Photos app. In the Albums tab you will be able to get a view of the image files currently stored on your device. Up, in the right hand corner of the screen you will see an arrow curving and leaving a rectangle. Tap this and it will open the Options screen. The buttons available here will be Copy, Share, Delete and Add To. You will actually have to select at least one image for these to become active. Select the images you no longer wish to keep and press Delete. Once you do this, another button will prompt you. This is so you won’t accidentally delete files you might wish to keep. Inspect the list once more.

To finally delete the files you have just selected press the Delete Selected Photos button and the pictures will be gone from your iPad. The remaining files will take up the missing space and rearrange themselves accordingly.

Most people prefer to delete image files directly from their tablet devices, although the same can be done by using iTunes. Given the ease of deleting pictures from your iPad you don’t actually have to connect the USB cable to your device and computer just to navigate through options and menus. Furthermore, if you chose to delete the pictures through the screen of the iPad, they will not re-sync next time you connect your device to iTunes.

Be advised that once you delete these pictures it may be hard to recover them, if not impossible at all. Check and double-check the list you selected in the Photos app. There are certain applications that will allow one to undelete and restore lost images, but the trouble of using such an application is not worth the seconds it would take for you to pay attention to what you are currently deleting.
