How to add PDF Files to iBooks

First of all you need to download and install the iBooks application. It’s a free app and you can find it in App Store. Installation should be a breeze. Next you need to fire up iTunes and connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable. On the left side of iTunes look under Library and there you should find the iBooks entry. It should contain every book you have downloaded from iTunes and also a list of PDF files you might want to sideload. Drag and drop desired files in this area and they will be added to the list. You can arrange them by Author or Category for an easier view.

  • Select your plugged-in iPhone from Devices in the left panel and from the bar in the upper part of iTunes select iBooks. From here you will be able to sync all the e-books or just newly-added PDF files. Choose “Selected books” if you only want to sync the PDF files you want to sideload and check the boxes next to the PDF files you want to sync. Press the Apply button when you are done selecting them. Sync you phone and your library on the iPhone will be supplemented with the selection you chose.
  • Alternatively you can browse the Internet from your iPhone and download specific PDF files. Whenever you open them using Safari there will be an option present allowing you to import the PDF file directly into iBooks. This is the easier way since you don’t need a computer for it.
