There are many articles in which it is shown the process of downgrading iOS 6.0.1 to iOS 6 and 5.1.1, but some of the methods seem to encounter some problems, even if they are followed accordingly.

So, in the following paragraphs you will learn an easy downgrade method. In order to do this, you need some tools first: Redsnow and be sure to have iOs 5.1.1. SHSH blobs saved. One important aspect is that you can downgrade from iOS 6.0.1 to 5.1.1  you can only do this on iPhone 4, 3 GS and iPod Touch. Keep in mind that all the other iOS  devices are not supported.

To be sure you have all you need, please take into consideration the following list.

Neccesary tools for your downgrade

  1. First, as stated above, you should download the latest version of Redsnow 0.9.15b3 and saved iOS 5.1.1 blobs in order to have a successful downgrade. You can’t do the operation without the blobs, it is important to have them saved no matter the method (even with TinyUmbrella or Cydia).
  2. The downgrading process requires iPhone restore so we strongly recommend you to create a back up for your available data from your smart phone, as you might lose data.  Still, the iOS 6.0.01 backups are not compatible with iOS 5.1.1

Now, if you are sure you have all the above, the process can begin.

Downgrade iOS 6.0.1 to iOS 5.1.1 with the Redsnow, using the step-by-step instructions below:

 

Step 1. download iOS 5.1.1. using the provided link.

Step 2. download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3  using the provided link.

Step 3. after downloading Redsnow, unzip the file and then launch it.

Note: Windows users (on PC) should use Redsnow as Administrator and Mac OS X (Mountain Lion) users should launch it by clicking Cntrl + Open.

Step 4. If the “red” tool is up and it runs, then go to Extra – Even More.

Step 5. You now have to Restore (from the Restore button) and then click on the IPSW button (you can choose IPSW or Blobs)

Step 6. You have to select iOS 5.1.1 firmware file already downloaded in Step 1  from the window which appears. Just click Open.

Step 7. The notice where you should prevent baseband update will appear, so click Yes.

Step 8. Now, just put your device into Pwned DFU mode in order to downgrade iOS 6.0.1.  In order to do this, just turn the device off and connect it to the nearby computer.

Step 9. Rednow should detect your device. Click Next and follow the instructions which will appear on the screen. If you are not comfortable with the instructions, follow an additional link in order to find out the proper way of entering DFU.

Step 10. If you follow the instructions in a correct way, Redsnow will detect 5.1.1 blobs on Cydia. If it didn’t work properly, try the operation again, using Remote. The other cause would be that you saved SHSH blobs on the computer; if so click on the Local button and select saved blobs.

Step 11. The iOS 6.0.1 downgrading process will (the ending process will be made automatically). The message on the screen will inform you that iOS 5.1.1 was successfully installed.

 

Before using your phone at its capacity, you still have to jailbreak and unlock your smart phone.

For the first operation, you have to untethered jailbreak iOS 5.1.1.
