How to Install CalDAV on iPhone and iPad

For those of you who are not familiar with the CalDAV term, we will make a short description of what that means. The full name of this program actually is Calendaring Extensions to WebDAV, and it represents an Internet standard, which allows the client to access the information needed,  through a remote server. This is very helpful for members of an organization, because by sharing the information that they need remotely, is simply making their jobs easier.

In the present moment, almost every company and every business use this program, and they all give calendar subscription to their users and members, because it facilitates the access to the information that they need in order to do their jobs. For those of you who use an iPad or an iPhone, it`s quite simple to do that, because you just need to add a calendar subscriptions or the CalDAV account to your device. We must tell you that this is more simple than you ever imagined, because all you have to do in order to use it, is knowing the subscription link for the calendar, or the credentials that you need. And that`s all!

As we already told you above, you can use it on both iPhone and  iPad device. Bellow we will let you know what to do with the information and which are the steps that you need to follow in order to configure the CalDAV on your device. First of all we will talk about How to add calendar subscriptions to your iPhone or iPad and second of all  How to add a CalDAV account to your iPhone or iPad. So, just pay attention to the steps and you will be able to use this awesome feature too.

How to add calendar subscriptions to your iPhone or iPad

There are eight easy steps you should follow in order to get the setup, so here`s is what you have to do.

1. Unlock your device (iPhone or iPad), and go to the Settings app you see on your Home screen.
2. After you did this, scroll down until you get to Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Go on and tap on that option
3. Moving to step three, you should see bellow, in the Mail section,  the Add Account option. Just tap on it, and you can move on to the next step.
4. Now, you will be able to see now the next options, and you might be tempted to choose from the list of application shown there. Please just ignore that list and tap Other. It should be the last option that you have in the menu.
5. Now you will be able to see the Calendar section, so go on and tap under that section on Add Subscribed Calendar.
6. Moving to step six, where all you have to do is to write into or to copy in, the server location of the calendar. You should recognize what you need to copy, because it`s just a web address and it should end with .ics
7.  Here you will need to introduce an username, password, or SSL info. It`s up to you which one of these you want to enter, depending on what you need. If this is about a public subscriptions it`s quite possible that you could skip this step. After you finish writing this info as requested, just tap the Done button that you see in the right corner of your screen.
8. This was all you had to do! Now you should see in your default Calendar application, the subscribed Calendar you just entered.

How to add a CalDAV account to your iPhone or iPad

1. Just like we already told you in the first part, the first step implies launching the Setting app that you see on the Home screen of your iPad or iPhone.
2. Now, just tap like you did before on Mail, Contacts, Calendars option that you see in the drop down list.
3. Moving to step three, still nothing new, just move under the Mail section, and tab on Add Account…
4. Like you probably already guessed, the next step is to tap on Other option.
5. Now pay attention, because you should tap on Add CalDAV Account. You should see that option bellow your Calendar section.
6. Moving on to the next step, you will have to introduce all the information required for your CalDAV account. It`s quite possible that you will not know which these informations are, so you`d better ask your system administrator about them, or the person who`s in charge with the setting of  your CalDAV account.
7. Next your account should be checked, so just tap on Next button you see in the right corner of your screen in order to do that.
8. If everything is in it`s place, tap again on Done button and that`s all! Further, you should see how your new CalDAV account starts synchronizing with your iPad or iPhone device.
