How To Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 3
Not so long ago, on December 3rd Apple has rolled out its latest iOS 6 firware version, the beta 3. Being announced approximately 3 weeks after the iOS 6.1 beta 2 version, it comes with some minor bug fixes and other various improvements. If you are a developer and wish to update to the latest iOS 6 firmware version you can do so OTA, or accessing the developer’s corner found at Apple website. All you have to do is to registered as developer then access the Apple Dev Center, open you Settings app then go to General, Software Update and tap Install Now. You know the drill…
The beta 3 version will expire on December 28 such as the beta 2 version meaning that we’ll get our hands on another update after that date.
Although the new beta versions are not considered a huge step forward from iOS 6.0, the new firmware version brings changes in boarding pass behavior when it comes to the Passbook app, some Safari improvements as well as minor Apple maps changes.
Having a busy schedule for the past weeks, we have managed to update two of our terminals to iOS 6.1 beta 3 yesterday so it’s news for us too. This does not mean we didn’t manage to jailbreak it in no time. Up next we will teach you how to jailbreak iOS 6.1 beta 3 firmware. Please note that this solution is a tethered one so you’ll have to reboot your iPhone using a computer and it only works with pre-A5 devices that include the iPhone 4 and 3GS. Before we start it’s also worth mentioning that you should go ahead and install the iOS 6.1 beta 3 and jailbreak it only if you are a developer. It won’t be of much use for you otherwise.
Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 3
Step 1. The first thing you will have to do is to go ahead and download iOS 6.1 beta 3 (you have to be registered as developer) then head to our download page and grab a copy of RedSn0w 0.9.15b3. You will also have to gain acces to iOS 6.0 for the particular device you want to jailbreak. Go ahead and also download a copy of iOS? 6.0 also located on our dedicated download page.
Step 2. Use your USB cable to connect your iPhone 4 to your computer then go ahead and launch REdSn0w 0.9.15b3. Find the Extras menu -> Select IPSW -> and select the iOS 6.0 firmware you are using. RedSn0w should have no problems finding the correct firmware version.
Step 3. Head back to the main RedSn0w menu and select the Jailbreak Option. Wait for the whole process to end then select the install Cydia option. Click Next afterwards.
Step 4. YOu will now have to enter DFU mode from your iPhone. The jailbreak process should now continue its progress until the end.
Step 5. In RedSn0w go back and select the IPSW option again, afterwards select the iOS 6.0 firmware and boot your iPhone 4 by clicking Just Boot.
Step 6. Enter DFU mode again. You will notice that a tethered boot will commence ( a pineapple logo will be displayed on your iPhone 4 on a black screen).
Step 7. Your device should now return to its normal Lock Scree. Browse the menu and find the Cydia app. This is it! You have successfully jailbroken your iOS 6.1 beta 3 device.
That was not hard at all. The key is pointing to the public iOS 6.0 firmware. The whole process lasts about 15 minutes and you should have not encountered any issues. If you do however leave us a comment and we’ll assist you ASAP.
