How to jailbreak iOS 6.1 beta 5 – Step by step guide

We are aware of the fact that in this very moment everybody is eagerly waiting for the launch of Golden Master on the market.? Even though we do not know for sure when or if this would happen in the near future, we know for sure that this is still a debate subject and we also are pretty confident that the customers of Apple should be patient because, most likely they would not be able to see and use an iOS 6.1 jailbreak for their devices before iOS 6.1 is released for the large public.

Don`t be disappointed with these news, because like every time, we are here to provide you some important information that might be useful for you. For example, if you are a developer, fan of Apple products, you will be happy to find that you have on your disposal a jailbreak for previous versions of A5 devices. We are talking about the jailbroken variant for iOS 6.1 beta 5. Keep in mind though, that you can only use it as a tethered jailbreak, if you`re not using an older variant of the iPhone 3GS, which might work in this case with an untethered version as well.

As always, we want to make this process as simply as possible for you, so all you have to do in order to be able to proceed with the jailbreaking of iOS 6.1 beta 5, is to pay attention and follow the steps we will present you further.

How to jailbreak a pre-A5 device running iOS 6.1 beta 5

Step 1: It is important for you to keep in mind that you can download iOS 6.1 beta 5, only if you are a developer. In this first step all you have to do in order to start the process, is to go to Apple developer portal and download iOS 6.1 beta 5 from here.

Step 2: Moving on to step two, if you consider yourself to be a happy owner of a previous version of A5 device, and we refer here to the iPhone 4,? iPhone 3 GS , or the iPod Touch (talking here about the 4th generation of it), you can now download iOS 6.0 ,?for these particular gadgets.

Step 3: In the next step, we will ask you to go again to download the well known RedSn0w 0.9.15b3.

Step 4:? Going? into step four. Here you should plug in your phone into your machine. After you connected the device to your computer, you will need to put it into DFU mode.

Step 5:? After DFU mode is set, launch RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 and make sure it detects your phone in this mode. You can check that at the bottom of the windows.

Step 6: Now, just click on the Extras button, next click on Select IPSW, and then select the?iOS 6.0 IPSW that we mentioned about earlier during step 2.? RedSn0w should now run it’s routine on your device and successfully identify the iOS 6.0 firmware. As soon as this is done, just click OK.? If anything happens, and your firmware is not identified,? it means you either have a wrong version of RedSn0w, or another firmware version.

Step 7: If so far, everything goes accordingly, click Back, and then click Jailbreak. As soon as everything has finished to load, make sure that you checked the option Install Cydia, and then click Next. Supposing everything is going well and you switched your phone to DFU Mode correctly, just as we told you to in step four, the jailbreak will now begin.

Step 8: Since your phone has returned to the Lock screen,on step eight, you must now place it back into DFU mode.

Step 9: Moving on to step nine, you should see a notification of the Tethered Jailbreak and press OK if you didn`t do that yet. After that, you should select from the screen that just appeared Select IPSW. Click on this icon.

Step 10: Proceed again with the selection of the iOS 6.0 firmware that is proper for your phone. Wait until the firmware is successfully recognized, and you can now tap on Just boot button.

Step 11: If all the steps you followed until now were correctly applied, your phone should be now in DFU mode as it should be. Your job is done for the moment, and your device is in the hands of RedSn0w because the tethered boot of your device should start. You will know when the process ends with success because you will be able to see on the screen of your device the apple logo, as soon as your phone is booted.

Step 12: As soon as you see again the Lock screen, unlock your phone and move on to the second page. Once you get there, start searching for Cydia app.

This was the last step you had to follow in order to end the process. Wasn`t that hard, wasn`t it? Be happy, because you now have your favorite gadget running on iOS 6.1 beta 5 jailbroken. Enjoy it! I should probably remind you once again that this particular jailbreak is working only for developers. Therefore the beta firmware can only be downloaded from the Apple portal especially created for developers.

You should also keep in mind that you are now using a tethered jailbreak. This means that in order to reboot your device (when needed) you must go again through steps 10 and 11 to get a tethered boot.

As you already know, we are trying to keep you posted to the news and we can tell you now that if you are waiting for an untethered version of the jailbreak your waiting is getting close to the end. We`ve seen through the rumors that hackers are getting ready to release the untethered version of a jailbreak available for devices such as iPad mini and iPhone 5, and even for the other devices that are capable now of working on the launched version of iOS 6.1, available now on the public market.

Untill then you can send us your thoughts and ideas by using the comment section you see bellow. As for you the developers, just enjoy for the moment, this jailbreak version of iOS 6.1 beta 5.
