So this leaves the door open for other jailbreak actions for new firmware. Let’s get the party started, shall wee? All on board.
When it comes to supported devices, the?iPhone 4 CDMA,?iPhone 4 GSM,?iPhone 3GS and?iPod G are the devices that tick all the boxes for this jailbreaking process. Just a quick note however regarding the iPhone 3GS in particular?-we here have an untethered jailbreak?if old-bootrom. If you have one of these 4 devices, then pay attention.
First Rule and Step
We need to highlight that you can not go ahead without the latest download of?RedSn0w?0.9.15b3?for the Windows operating system, so make sure you have this downloaded first otherwise you might as well go read a book instead of reading our post. Once you have managed to successfully download the?RedSn0w?0.9.15b3?for the Windows operating system, you are right back on track and you need to start going through the other steps.
Second Step
Now that you have paid attention and followed our instructions to?download RedSn0w?0.9.15b3, you need to extract it. If you are new to this process, let’s briefly update you on it – you have to right click on the?zip file?and then simply give one more click on the?extract to folder?option.
You need to select RedNow, and once it has been extracted the just find the?redsn0w.exe?file, right click on it and click the?Run as administrator?option (if applicable). It might sound like this is complicated, but actually the clicks will happen in a few moments, so you won’t even notice doing it.
Third Step
Having performed the second step will have RedSnow be up and running so it means that everything has went fine until now. From this point on we have to click the?Extras?button to keep going.
Fourth Step
The 4th step is marked by clicking on the?Select IPSW?button and then just selecting the applicable iOS 6 firmware file for the device that you are using. What this does is start RedSnow up and have it recognize the firmware. It will take very little until it actually does so afterwards you need to go back by clicking the Back button and then also click the Jailbreak option and you have it going.
Fifth Step
You have managed to get to another step, the 5th one. You will see that some preparatory instructions for entering DFU will be displayed on your phone’s screen as soon as you have finished performing Step 4 (clicking on the Jailbreak option). It isn’t all that complicated but you do need to read these instructions pretty well and then proceed. But also make sure you turn off your iOS device that you are performing the jailbreaking process on, and also click the Next button after this. You will have from here on to follow a series of some other easy steps in order to get to the sixth step, so let’s see which these shown on-screen steps are.
Firstly, you have to hold down the Power button for no less than 5 seconds, and then also hold down both the Home button (without however letting go of the Power button) and the Power button. No need to mention,I am sure, that the Power button is the corner one and that the Home button is the one at bottom center. We are just being extra careful that it’s gonna work for you, effortlessly. Then the last step is to stop holding down the Power button for up to a period of 15 seconds, also without releasing the Home button at the same time. And this is it. We are now good to get to the upcoming step, the sixth one.
Sixth Step
Now that you have successfully entered DFU mode,?RedSn0w?will at this stage begin to process the iOS 6 firmware. This process doesn’t necessarily take that long so once you see it finished you will be shown a few options on your screen that you need to choose for continuing to jailbreak your device. The first of the choices you need to take is select the Install Cydia option and once you have done this you will see the Jailbreak process begin, but not before you also click on the Next button.
Seventh Step
It is now when RedSnow starts to jailbreak your device, so just sit back and wait because you are not allowed to interrupt the process while it’s happening and you are also prohibited to use your computer in the meanwhile. Just wait and relax. ?Once the process finished, your device will automatically have become jailbroken, exactly how you wanted it to be. But you will at this stage need to reboot it with RedSnow.
Eight Step
Yes, we are finally reached our last step. Come on, the journey has not been that difficult. But there is still one more thing for you to do. Start by launching RedSn0w?again if you have exited it, then click the?Extras button and then the?Select IPSW?button and start browsing for your device?s iOS 6 firmware again. Once these steps done, click the?Just Boot?button.?You now need to put the iPhone or iPod Touch into DFU mode again, which will result into booting your iOS device into a Jailbroken state, and this step needs to be taken every time your device loses power.
Ta-dam – You have successfully reached the Finish line
We are done and we now declare you the happy?possessor?of a jailbroken iPhone 4,?iPhone 3GS?or?iPod Touch 4G, so start launching Cydia and thus get all the tweaks that catch your eye! And we know this will not be easy, but at least you have the power of the choice which always beats any restrictions.
