Jailbreak iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1 using evasi0n on Windows
As we promised a few days ago, when we posted the guide for jailbreaking iOS 6 using evasi0n for Mac users, it`s time for Windows users to smile! You will be able from now on to fully enjoy your iPhone 5 running with iOS 6. You can jailbreak your device by using your personal computer no matter the operating system.
We chose to take as an example for this case the Windows 8 operating system, but keep in mind that this is just an example, because ( and you will be pleased to find out) it should work on all types of Windows: Windows Vista, Windows 7, and of course Windows XP. If you will follow the tutorial we`ve prepared for you, you`ll be able to see some easy steps that will lead you to a successful jailbreak of your iPhone 5. So pay attention to the tutorial, follow the steps and it shouldn`t be that hard.
Step 1: Like every time, the first step implies the download of evasi0n tool for Windows version. As always, feel free to download the application form our download page.
Step 2: Moving to step two, you will need to extract the downloaded folder on your machine`s desktop, and after doing it, take a look in the evasi0n folder. You will be able to find there the evasi0n.exe file and all you have to do, is to right click on it and after that, select from the drop down list Run as administrator option. It`s quite possible to see a pop up window on your screen: User Access Control. If this happens just press yes and you`ll be done with the step two.
Step 3: This step implies some changes that you need to do on your device, if it`s the case. If your iPhone 5 has a security code, make sure you turn off that option for the moment. You can turn your passcode lock off, by going to Settings than choose General > Passcode Lock and from there you have to pick the Turn Passcode Off option. Now, you can move forward to the next step.
Step 4: You must plug in your iPhone 5 into your machine in order to start the jailbreak process.
Step 5: In the next step, the evasi0n tool should start the identification of your device. After the identification of your iPhone 5, you should see the Jailbreak button activated and you will be able to click on it.
Step 6: All you have to do at step six, in order to start the jailbreak process, is to tap on the Jailbreak button.
Step 7: Moving to this step, things will last a bit more, so you`ll need to be patient, and wait for the evasi0n tool to move through its own steps. This means, that you will see along with other steps, that evasi0n will prepare the jailbreak data, and after that it will restart your iPhone 5, upload Cydia application and inject jailbreak data. The Cydia packages list will be uploaded as well. As we already told you, these steps will take a little more time, so just be patient and wait until the evasi0n finish its work.
Step 8: When the process ends, you will need to unlock your iPhone 5 as the evasi0n tool requires. So go ahead and Slide to Unlock your Locked screen. After you did it, if you move to the second page of your Home screen, you will be able to see the Jailbreak application installed on your device. In order to move on, you should tap on the application, but keep in mind that you should tap it only ONCE. Now, the screen of your iPhone 5 will turn into black and then it will come back to the Home screen in a few seconds. Please remember this important thing: tap the Jailbreak app just ONCE.
Step 9: Moving to this step you will need to hold your horses again, because this is another step that will take a while. Some other pop up messages will appear on your screen, such as injecting jailbreak data, and Root Filesystem successfully remounted. Now it`s the moment when your iPhone 5 will probably restart few times before ending this process. So, stay chill and don`t touch anything else, because it`s normal for the first reboot to last longer than you expected. Just be patient, and the wait will worth.
Step 10: You will be able to see on your screen, at the end of the jailbreak process, another message that it will let you know you are “Done”. Another hint of the fact that this process ended, will be the big evasi0n logo, which will appear on your iPhone 5 iOS screen. Most likely you will see it for a few seconds, and it should appear more than once. Just stay focused for a while to see it, and after, your device will return to the Lock screen. Go on, and Slide to Unlock again your iPhone 5 and on the second page of the Home screen where you should see the Cydia app installed.
If you precisely followed the steps presented above, your iOS iPhone 5 will be in this moment jailbroken on iOS 6 using the evasi0n version for Windows operating systems. Congrats!
Notes: As you probably remember, you had to turn off your Passcode lock during this process. If it was the case, and you did it, now you can go back to Settings, and Turn On the Passcode lock.
