How to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G running iOS 6.0.1 Tethered on Windows

iOS 6.0.1. Jailbreaking using RedSn0w 0.9.15b3
Before we start, please take into consideration that all the steps are compulsory, in order to have a successful result.
Step 1/ First, in order to begin the jailbreaking, you need the tool on your computer.So, you need to download the latest version of RedSn0w, which, at the moment is RedSn0w?0.9.15b3? (please re-ckeck it if you read this after a few months,as new vesions of the tool might appear). You can download the version for Windows (the operating system we took as example in order to proceed with the operation).
You can choose to download the tool from the provided link or by going to the our dedicated downloads Section. Also, you will need the iOS 6 firmware for the device you have, which you can download from the downloads section
Step 2/ After the download of the RedSn0w?0.9.15b3 is completed, you will have to extract the components of the tool in a folder. You can do this by clicking right on the zip file and then choose ?extract to RedSn0w??? option, which means that a folder with this name will be created in the computer.
After all the components have been extracted, go to the exe file, which is named redsn0w.exe?file, click right and select the Run as administrator option in order to continue. (you will find it under the Open button)
Step 3/ At this point RedSn0w?should be running (as on the screen the message ?Welcome! This is the latest version of RedSn0w). Now choose the Extras option and select Next.
Step 4/ After you have chosen the Extras button, some options will appear on the screen (e.g.: Recovery fix, SHSH blobs). In order to continue with the jailbreaking, you will need to click on the Select IPSW button and then choose the applicable iOS 6 firmware file for the device you are working on. At this point RedSn0w should recognize the firmware you will need; then, you just have to click the Back button and select the Jailbreak button from the previous menu
Step 5/ After selecting the Jailbreak button, a screen with instructions for entering the DFU mode will appear. As you already know, DFU is the short name for Device Firmware Upgrade .
Read the instructions on the screen ? you will see they are different for 2 categories of devices:
- iPhone4S, iPad2, iPad 3Now, the iPhone or iPad Touch
- A4 and earlier devices
The device should now ?be powered off. If you haven?t done that yet, do it now and then click the next button in order to continue
After clicking the Next button, the step-by-step info on the screen will get you through the rest of the operation:
-????????? Hold down the Power button for 5 seconds (the power button is in the corner).
-????????? After the 5 seconds, keep holding down the Power button, together with the Home button, for 10 seconds (the Home button is in the bottom center).
-????????? Then, while you keep holding down the home button, release the power button for about 15 seconds.
Step 6/ After entering the DFU mode, RedSn0w will start the iOS 6 firmware process.
You will be asked to select the options you want in order to continue. You should have the ?Install Cydia? box clicked on and then you should click the ?Next button
At this point, the actual jailbreak process begins (after the preparing jailbreak data will appear on the screen)
Step 7/ At this moment RedSn0w?starts jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod Touch. Be sure you don?t use the computer in other purposes at this time and you do not interrupt the process. After the jailbreaking of your iOS device, the device will reboot into a non-jailbroken state . Being a tethered jailbreak, you will need to boot the device using RedSn0w.
Step 8/ – If you exited the tool, please relaunch it, in order to proceed to the next step.You should click the Extras button and then Select IPSW, browse for the device?s iOS 6 firmware and then click the Just boot button.? The iPhone or iPod should be in the DFU mode while doing this.
Now, the final step is almost finished, as, at the moment the iOS device goes into the DFU mode, it will boot into a Jailbroken state.
This last step will be repeated each time your iPhone or iPod loses power. It is not time consuming, still, it is compulsory
