How To Unlock iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3GS on iOS 6 with Any Baseband

We have all witnessed Apple’s release of the iOS 6 which represents its latest operating system compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. Bringing over 200 new features with its launch, the product has been positively embraced by most users who reported that they appreciate its novelty and advanced functionality feature. But don’t imagine everything is exactly perfect. If you are using Ultrasn0w, SAM or Gevey SIM on your iPhone and you do not wish to lose unlock after the iOS 6 update, then just stay with us until the end of the post and check out the different ways through which you can unlock your iOS 6. It will be nothing less than an exciting adventure.

To make it a little simpler – we will make a summarized list of the contents in this article so that you can see exactly what subjects shall be touched here. First of all, we will give you a glimpse into the different possible ways of unlocking the iOS 6, then take them separately and break on how to use: the Gevey Ultra SIM iOS 6 unlock , the SAM Unlock for iOS 6 iPhone, the Ultrasnow fixer Unlock for iOS 6. We shall also take a look into the Downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.x.x, and into the IMEI unlock iOS applicable on any world carrier/network. The last topic shall be the conclusion we draw after going through all of the above.

Available iOS 6 Unlocking Methods

As there are different ways in which you can unlock your iOS 6, it is straight up to you to decide which one you find the best (or even more suitable for you). Therefore, it is best to just present you with all options and help you take this important decision. There are many coordinates operating in what the best decision taking process means, so among all the factors involved here we must mention the baseband version, and the factors vary up to the ending carrier to which your device is locked. We will look into all the existing unlocking methods, starting with the most popular and well known methods of unlocking such as the Ultrasn0w, Gevey SIM, SAM tools, then going through the process of downgrading the iOS 6 to a lower unlockable version, and ending with the latest version, which is the IMEI unlocking solution.

No matter which of them you ultimately decide you want to choose, they will all give great results. there is no question about that. On the other hand, they are also all very different to one another, so they have their own requirements, and not universally applicable ones. They are also mandatory to succeeding with the unlocking of the iOS firmware. I am sure we have made you curious of this and that you will have to go all the way through with us. Better to take a fully informed decision, isn’t it?

The Gevey Ultra SIM for iOS 6 Unlock

The Gevey Ultra SIM for iOS 6 Unlock (on a 3.0.04. baseband) has been recently launched by Applenberry, which is a very popular and respectable firm with a vast experience in producing SIM unlock for iPhone over the last years.

Many users from all corners of the world have reportedly used this solution on their iPhones and have had great results afterwards. However, with the exception of the iPhone 4S,  it seems that Applenberry can not quite grasp this for the latest iOS from Apple and has actually given a warning to users not to upgrade their devices.

We can only suspect and reckon that Applenberry is working on sorting this out for the other iDevices, and hopefully this shall be soon reported. However, until this wish does not become palpable reality, then it isn’t really advisable to update your device to iOS as the company does not have a Gevey SIM for this particular firmware.

The SAM Unlock Ticket for iOS 6

We must here talk about the new SAM tool that enables the unlocking of any iPhone for free – the tool has been developed by Sam Bingner and Loktar_Sun, and the tool can now be used to unlock the iOS 6 as well, provided that all the necessary requirements have been met.

What are these requirements we have mentioned before? First of all, this method works if you have already saved the activation ticket and also used the RedSnow tool to have performed the jailbreak. What is even more touch is that your Activation ticket, which is one of the pillars of this unlock method, will not work if it has not been saved prior to Apple’s closing of this exploit, so just make sure you get it right.

Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 has now brought the jailbreaking experience to a different level and made it all possible, bringing many new useful features into the discussion. You will however need to boot (or reboot) your iPhone in tethered mode by using your computer and USB wire as the jaibreaking process due to the tethered feature of the jailbreaking process.

For the process to not be successfully completed, it only takes for you to have one component missing. However, once all of the elements have been fulfilled – it is without any issues whatsoever that you can quickly unlock your iOS by using SAM.

The Ultrasn0w Fixer Unlock for iOS 6

What is Ultrasnow? It is a tool that is distributed after jailbreaking (for free) and that has been previously developed by the iPhone Dev team. What is cool now is that you can put your hands on the Ultrasnow fixer in order to use the unlock iOS 6. This version of the Fixer 6.0 was created by the developers of the jailbreak tweaks for Cydia –  msft.guy and zmaster, and not by the the Dev team.

As the iPhone Dev team have been the first to release Ultrasnow (being afterwards also released by Fixer), this method is the first to unlock Phone 3GS old bootrom and iPhone 4 old baseband. The method goes along all of the other free unlocking solutions but stands out at the same time.

What the Ultrasnow fixer can unlock is:

  • either the iPhone 3GS with old bootrom;  as a note – the  iPhone models that were launched after 29 week of 2011 had new bootrom and can’t be unlocked therefore) – if you necessarily want, you can try to do it but you will also risk to corrupt your baseband and that would be not a software problem but hardware problem, so better to avoid it.
  • or the iPhone 4 but only on baseband 01.59.00.

If all goes smoothly – then you need to update your device to iOS 6, then proceed with  jailbreaking it, and only then find the Ultrasn0w fixer in Cydia and install it. And this is how you do it – so hope you followed our steps and succeeded.

How to Downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.x.x

As you have already become accustomed to, you will also need to make sure you meet some particular requirements in order to use this method, which is basically pretty simple. What you will necessarily need to have are the saved SHSH blobs of the firmware you want to downgrade to (if you want to downgrade iOS 6 baseband to iOS 5.1.1 or any firmware.

You are able to downgrade iOS 6 to any lower version you want and then just unlock it by using Gevey SIM, for example, which is actually pretty good. However is there anything to be done if you didn’t have SHSH blobs?

There is unfortunately nothing to be done if you don’t have them, and the situation is similar to the one with the SAM Activation ticket. If you don’t have it, you can not succeed. It is solely the SHSH blobs that you save while Apple still signed it that are compatible with the process (you can therefore nowdays save any type of blobs but the iOS 6 blobs).

So, if you are the lucky “savior” of the SHSH blobs, then you can definitely make use of the RedSnow tool and iOS firmware files on your computer, managing to have a successfully completed downgrade process. The conclusion here is that blobs are priceless (and mandatory).

Factory unlock iOS 6 on any world carrier/network [IMEI]

You are now officially safe to factory unlock any iOS 6 iPhone 5, 4S, 4 and 3GS baseband – as it is finally a legit thing to do. What the latest method has been named is the iPhone IMEI unlock method, which you can use on your iPhone at no cost and from any network all around the world. Even more surprising and more cool is that you can use any SIM card/carrier of your choice, permanently!

This method is believed to be the best, as it is applicable on all the iPhone models (even iPhone 5) and it does not rely on baseband updating, jailbreak as well as Activation tickets or SHSH blobs, so it makes everything a lot more easier. What you need to do however (as it will not work without) is your iPhone IMEI number.

You will need to give importance to the carrier your iPhone is locked to – so better to find this detail out by checking it in advance (you can find free download versions online).

Once you know which particular one it is, just make sure to get in touch with them via a legit form, pay the fee and then simply start enjoying your unlocked iPhone that runs on iOS 6 (or any other iOS firmware or baseband version as well as old and new bootrom on iPhone 3GS and bootloader). The timeframe of this process can however vary from a mere 10 minutes time to even a timeframe of 8 days, and this is something that depends on the carrier to which your phone is locked.

You will have to make sure here to choose a legit service that provides an official unlock and guarantees not to void the warranty. We are saying this because there are a number of illegitimate (scam) sites that might trick you into paying the fee, but not sending anything back, so that wouldn’t exactly be what you want. At all. Just keep your eyes opened.

The quickest, cheapest and most safe iPhone IMEI unlock service has been reported by many to be this one, so check it out and also compare prices if you will.

We hope that having deconstructed all the available methods in this post we have made it easier for you to determine which of the unlocking ways is better suited for you. While there are different manners via which you can unlock an iOS 6 device, you will not be able to update your iOS firmware and still be unlocked (except for the cases of those who have factory unlocked iPhones). Moreover, if you do not have a factory unlocked iOS 6, then you will also never have the option to use any carrier at the same time just by changing them. This is a process that can only be performed after the IMEI method in place. This brings me to stating that this seems to be the best option – the IMEI method for your iPhone; do it once and you will always be able to use it and enjoy it with no constraints.

Rumors stated that if you purchase your iPhone after January 2013, you will then not be able to unlock it (unless your carrier will actually allow you to do so). While this is not that convenient, perhaps it is a boost for the AppleNberry or iPhone Dev team teams to come up with something innovative and new in order to unlock the iOS 6 on your iPhone. So it is highly advisable you take note of all of these and hurry up in taking the best decision you can take. We for one will surely do so.
