How to update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 6.1 over the air (OTA)

iOS 6.1 How to update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 6.1 over the air (OTA)

You probably heard of OTA before. It is not a kind of OZN, it is only an abbreviation for Over the Air which is a transmission of data in a wireless system. It is supported by companies such as Smart Trust, Nokia, and, of course, Apple.

Apple has this option of updating iDevices (no matter if it is about iPhones, iPads or iPads) without using the iTunes connection since iOS 6.1. has been released. The iOS 6.1 has more than one improvement regarding options.  You can also buy movie tickets with Siri, it has a better LTE support and …we will let you discovery by yourself the other ones.

Your iPhone should alert you when an update has finished, but, if this doesn’t happen, don’t worry. If you follow the next step-by-step instruction  you will be able to activate the over-the-air update by yourself.

Note: Before we start, you should know that your Apple recommends that your battery is 50% or more loaded, in order to complete the software update over-the-air, without being necessary to plug it in into a charger.

Now, let’s move forward to the 8 steps you should follow in order to complete this operation. Pay attention to each of them, in order not to go back and repeat the process.

Step 1/ First, you should be sure you know your iCloud password. Compared to the other updates, this is special as it asks you to provide your iCloud password in order to complete the update. So, in order to complete all the steps, you should have the password available.

Step 2/ Now take your device and go to its Home screen (no matter if it is your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, the Home screen is the same) and launch the Settings app.

Step 3/ From the Settings App, tap on General.

Step 4/ From here, tap on Software update in order to check for updates.

Step 5/  It is the moment when the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will check for available updates on the device.

Step 6/ After the updates are shown on the screen you will have 2 options: Download and Install – if you don’t have the software on the device or Install Now – in case you already have software and you only need an update. Just tap on the option that suits you.

Step 7/ The device might ask you to plug your device in, in order to save battery. You should tap Continue.

Step 8/ Your iDevice will continue its job by itself. After it will reboot, you will have the iOS 6.1. software version available and ready to be explored, but not before you have tapped your iCloud password.

Easy, right? You don’t need any computer or other device and you update from one version of software to another. The steps are not hard to be followed, actually the only things you should be careful to are the level of battery and the iCloud password, as the iDevice does the rest.

We want to know if you already updated to iOS 6.1. and which was the method.Tell us your impressions and top improvements you have noticed compared to the older versions

If you didn’t update and you read this article in order to see how easy it is, then do not hesitate. Start the operation now.
