HTC Will Produce an 8.9-inch Nexus Tablet in Metal Case for Google

A Taiwanese HTC company will be engaged in the production of the forthcoming “reference/perfect” Android-based Nexus tablet. The model codenamed Volantis (Flounder) will get a trade name of Nexus 9 and will feature an 8.9-inch screen with the resolution of 2048 x 1440 pixels.
Allegedly, the competitor of iPad mini will be based on Nvidia Tegra K1, a 64-bit processor, and will feature 2 GB RAM, two cameras with the resolution of 8 and 3 megapixels respectively, as well as 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory. HTC Nexus 9 will have the dimensions of 226.3 x 151.9 x 7.9 mm. and will weigh 418 grams (in its Wi-Fi modification) or 427 grams (in its 4G LTE modification). The tablet will be metal-enclosed and feature stereo speakers.
There is also some information on the price of the new Nexus. The 16 GB version will cost $399, and the 32 GB modification will be priced at $499. The LTE modification is likely to cost about $600, which will put it alongside with the iPad mini with Retina screen.
According to media reports, the novelty with a “clean” Android will be released in the forth quarter of 2014 along with the announcement of the Android Lollipop platform.
