Jailbreak Accelerate Improve iOS animations with Accelerate, a simple jailbreak tweak

If you have noticed your iPhone (well, any older iOS device that you may own actually) is behaving slower than before, you should give this tweak a go, assuming your iPhone is jailbroken. The freshly released Accelerate is the tweak in question and it does not improve the performance of your iPhone; instead it speeds up the iOS animations smoothing your iPhone experience.

Accelerate is based on the same developer’s earlier tweak, ClockWind, and it’s pretty safe to say that Accelerate is an evolution of ClockWind, with bug fixes and added features. As we said earlier, this tweak won’t make your iPhone load faster; instead it will make it so that you will perceive the animations as running faster than before and that can be very noticeable. To use the tweak, your iPhone must be jailbroken of course. After you install it you will have to choose from several options, the most important being, of course, the option to enable or disable the tweak. You will find these options by going to Settings -> Accelerate.

Some of the other available options are the possibility to choose from a list of funny named speeds (would you go for the ‘Taxi’ speed, the ‘Ferrari’ speed or would you rather choose the ‘Superman’ speed?) for the animations and the possibility to disable Accelerate selectively, for only some portions of iOS (such as opening or closing an app) which will make these specific animations run at their normal speed.

Offered at the unbeatable price of free, Accelerate is worth the try (even though in iOS6 it does have a few glitches) and can be found on Cydia. It works on devices with iOS 3.x – 6.x installed, so if you want the illusion (after all, the tweak only changes the way you perceive the animations not your device’s hardware) of improved speed for animations in iOS, try it.
