If you love taking photos with your iPhone you will probably want to keep reading, because we are presenting a new jailbreak tweak called CameraTweak, developed by Samball. It improves the iPhone’s native Camera app adding a lot of powerful and important features, which we will present next.

Photo camera features

The ability to manually adjust the focus and Exposure is an important feature. The iPhone does this automatically and you can tap on its screen to set the focus and exposure. CameraTweak however, allows you to separate focus and exposure, for example focusing on a part of the scene while adjusting the exposure for another part of the scene.

A Time Lapse mode for photographs is another feature introduced by CameraTweak. It allows you to take photos at a set interval of time. You simply set the interval of time (in minutes or seconds) between photos and then the iPhone will start taking photos. You can always stop the time lapse with the stop button positioned in the center of the screen.

Besides the time lapse feature, CameraTweak also introduces a timer mode. You will set the amount of time in minutes or seconds, just like with the time lapse feature, and when the time is up the iPhone will snap a picture for you. Just one picture, this being the difference between this mode and the time lapse mode (which takes several pictures at a set interval of time).

With iOS 5 Apple introduced the grid overlay to the iPhone’s Camera application. It allows you to line your subject with accuracy and make great compositions. CameraTweak takes it a step further, introducing four different overlays to help you compose your photos exactly how you want – don’t worry, the overlay won’t actually show in the final photo, it’s only to help with composition.

Video camera features

CameraTweak also brings improvements to iPhone’s video mode. We already said a few words about the ability to manually set the focus and exposure feature. Another video feature worth mentioning is having more resolution options with the new CameraTweak app. You can now choose between different custom resolutions for your videos.

Another interesting feature is the ability to set a custom frame rate for your videos. You can choose a frame rate from 1 to 60 frames per second which can increase or decrease the video’s quality accordingly. A higher frame rate translates into a higher quality video so this feature is definitely an welcomed addition to the iPhone’s native Camera app.

Last bot not least, CameraTweak adds a frame guide feature which will help you keep your content in the center of the screen while taking videos at various aspect ratios (you can also choose between the different aspect ratios).

CameraTweak also comes with a white balance lock button which you can use both when taking photos or shooting videos. As its name implies, it will allow you to lock the white balance for the respective photo / video.

Final words

After installing it, all of the features enumerated above will be available from the Camera application; there will be no other settings to configure.

If you like photography, you should definitely give it a try as you may find its features very useful. Sold for a single dollar, CameraTweak is iOS 5 and iOS 6 compatible so it works on the iPhone 3GS and on newer models like the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S.
