While Apple brings the smart iWatch to order, promising a revolution, the current generation of wearable electronic devices is less than satisfying to their owners, the Fixya analysts report. The experts explain that the current situation is due to the immaturity of this class of electronics.

The analysts conducted a survey among 6000 users to determine what makes the owners of the ‘smart’ watches most unhappy. As a general rule, the respondents complained about the screen notifications, modest battery life, problems with the voice control and low quality of the built-in speaker. There were those who are dissatisfied with the lack of moisture protection and voice control in some models. The owners of “smart” Pebble, Martian Passport, I’m Watch, Samsung Galaxy Gear and Sony SmartWatch 2 participated in the survey.

The owners of this class of gadgets perceive them primarily as an extension of the smartphone, rather than a standalone device. As a result, even simple operations such as, for example, receiving alerts, forced them to get the phone out of the pocket. The screen sizes of hand-wearable gadgets were found guilty of being too small to be comfortable to read notifications.

Small screen space also impedes fully-featured interactivity, which is why manufacturers are trying to provide the smart watches with alternative input methods, including voice control. And they rarely make it in fine fashion.
