“Incredible” Demand For The iPhone 5S

Both the high end iPhone 5S and the cheaper iPhone 5C have been released two days ago, on September 20th. Both iPhone models can now be purchased in Apple Stores or from retail partners around the world. Not long after the official launch, Apple released an official statement mentioning that demand for the newly released iPhone models is “incredible”. Apple also mentioned the iPhone 5S is available in limited supplies and it sold out in some retail stores: “Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores [...]”.
It was rumored that many retail stores would only have few or no gold and silver iPhone 5S units at all. Many retail outlets only offer the Space Grey iPhone 5S model. Rumors proved to be right on launch day, not only for retail outlets but even for Apple’s own retail stores. It seems that gold iPhone 5S units were hard to find even at most Apple Stores, confirming rumors that suggested the gold iPhone 5S will be available in limited supply.
It seems that not long after the release of the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S models, Apple told suppliers to produce more gold iPhone 5S models, by one third. Online shipping times for the iPhone 5S have been pushed back for next month in most international markets. The other iPhone 5S colors will be shipping in 7 to 10 days in the initial launch countries.
Are you one of the people that bought an iPhone 5S or an iPhone 5C at launch and if you did, what model and color version did you get? Or maybe you are waiting to get your hands on a gold iPhone 5S?
