iOS 6.1.4 Update for iPhone 5 Affects the Battery Life of Certain Users
Apple launched the iOS 6.1.4 update last week and the iPhone 5 was the only device in the Cupertino-based company’s line up to receive the new software version, which brings an upgrade for the audio profile for speakerphone.
Considering that so far almost all new iOS updates arrive with some issues, certain iPhone 5 owners have complained about the iOS 6.1.4 software update, saying that the new firmware is affecting the battery life of their terminals. On Apple Discussions forums several users are reporting that the iOS 6.1.4 update for iPhone 5 is draining the battery a lot faster, especially while using an internet connection.
If there are any of you who are experiencing faster battery drains after you updated your iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.4, you could try to perform a reset, restart, then restore a back up. After performing all these steps you might not experience the iOS 6.1.4 battery drains any more. The restore is generally the safest way to fix problems like this one. You can also turn off the location and iCloud services, but this is up to you.
Just in case you forgot, I will remind you that the iPhone 5 sports a 4-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi.
