iPad 5 and iPad mini 2′s Late Release Dates Upsetting Apple Customers

This year has been pretty dry when it comes to new Apple devices so it is absolutely normal that users are disappointed about the delay of Apple`s iPad 5 and iPad Mini2 tablets. Adding to the list of reasons to be disappointed about, according to some merchants the iPad Mini and iPad 4 are not available for sale anymore so anyone wishing to buy an iPad tablet (be it the iPad 4 or the iPad mini) does not have any options than to wait, unless he can find an older model available.  Some customers are also very anxious to discover what improvements were made to both new tablets compared to the previous ones.

Even if users are expecting the release of both the iPad mini and the iPad 5 to happen relatively soon, Apple recently suggested that we should not expect the devices any time soon, as both of them will be released towards the end of the year (and during the next year’s beginning). Of course, there have been many rumors regarding both tablets’ release dates, ranging from this Summer to Fall 2013, to 2014, the bottom line here being that these rumors are often conflicting and should be taken with a grain of salt. In the rumors category, anonymous sources reported at this time that the Apple’s main objective is to hurry the release of the new tablets because the old ones are not selling very well anymore.

Bloomberg, one of the top sources of news in the US, claims that the iPad Mini and the iPhone 5, two of the most popular and well sold devices from Apple, will suffer a decline in sales of 25 to 30 percent. The reason invoked is that people will stop buying the current iPad and iPhone devices because they are waiting to buy the upcoming ones, the iPhone 5S, the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini.

Obviously, the Apple devices lovers and customers knows that the aforementioned upcoming Apple devices will soon be released on the market and are they are anxious to buy them. So it is indeed a logical reason why the models that are already on the market remain unsold.

This year some other companies like Samsung, Acer and HP will bring new tablets out on the market, tablets that will compete with Apple`s upcoming iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.

According to some sources, the iPad mini 2 will also have a 7.9  inch screen, just like the current iPad mini, but unlike the current  iPad mini, the mini 2 will also have a Retina Display and AU Optronics is rumored to be in pole position as the manufacturer behind the iPad mini 2′s display. The Retina Display is used in almost all new Apple devices and is a term used to describe the liquid crystal display with a very high pixel density. The resolution of the iPad mini 2′s display will be 2048 x 1536 pixels, about two times bigger than the resolution of the current iPad mini: 1024 x 768 pixels. Not only the resolution will increase but also the pixels per inch density, from the current model’s 163 PPI to a PPI density similar to that of the current iPhone 5.

The same sources also speculated about the iPad Mini 2′s specs, and it seems that the next generation mini will come equipped with a dual core A7 processor, with a 10-hour battery life , a FaceTime HD camera and an iSight camera that is able to record videos in Full HD. The iPad Mini 2 will be 7.5 mm thick (which is 0.3 mm thicker than the iPad Mini), but Apple tries to minimize the thickness with Sharp’s IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology.

Regarding the other Apple tablet, the iPad 5 it is speculated that it will not have bezels. Ben Horowitz considers that Apple will also be using  Sharp’s IGZO technology for the iPad 5. Horowitz also reported that the release date of both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 depends on how quickly Sharp will be able deliver all the needed components.

As we mentioned, Apple suggested through Tim Cook, the company’s Chief Executive Officer that until the fall of 2013 no new Apple devices will appear on the market. Despite Tim Cook`s statement, users believe that the sudden absence of iPad 4 and iPad Mini stocks is not accidental.

The release dates of the new devices will be set on different dates, many rumors hinting at an October release date for the iPad 5 and a Christmas release date for the iPad mini 2. There is also the possibility of a single launch for both tablets, but for now it is all speculation so we can only wait. If you would like to buy an iPad, would you buy one now or would you rather wait for the imminent release of next generation iPads?
