The fifth generation iPad was a subject for rumors over the past half a year, most of the leaks indicating that the iPad 5 will borrow the design language introduced last year by the iPad Mini. Today’s leakage is talking about the same subject, but this time we have some sketches to prove that the iPad 5 will look like an iPad Mini on steroids.

The photos posted by the guys at Slashgear are some sketches that apparently reveal the design of the iPad 5, and you can even see it compared to the iPad Mini and the iPad 4 in the gallery below. It seems that the next-gen Apple tablet will be a thinner and a bit narrower than the current iPad 4.

According to sources the iPad 5 will be 1/4 thinner than its predecessor, while the bezel around the display will be narrower, being a reminiscent of the approach employed for the iPad Mini. The corners will be less rounded, too, another characteristic borrowed from the 7.9-inch iPad Mini.

Even though the publication responsible for the leak claims that the source has “undoubtedly proven to be reliable in the past,” we are advising you to take the rumor with a pinch of salt. It seems that the new iPad 5 wil be only 7.9 mm thin, while being 232 mm tall and 178.5 mm wide.

Rumor has it that the iPad 5 release date has been set for the mid September – late October time frame. Will you be among the iPad 5 customers? Or maybe you will go with the iPad Mini 2…
