After we’ve had the occasion to have a close look at the white back cover of the iPhone 5C, the affordable Apple smartphone that will be announced next September leaks again. This time we get to look at several spy shots that picture the iPhone 5C front panel, camera module, and most of its internal parts.

Sources say that the iPhone 5C will be an affordable iOS-powered smartphone, which will have a mid-range hardware platform and a cheaper case, made of plastic and available in a lot of body colors.

Unfortunately, unless we get our hands on a fully functional iPhone 5C or at least on some clear photos that allow us to read the inscriptions on the electronics components, its pretty hard to guess the exact technical specs of the new smartphone.

Judging by the way the camera module looks and by the color of the lens, the iPhone 5C might borrow the 8 megapixel camera unit that was fitted last year on the back of the iPhone 5. The display is definitely a 4-inch unit, but it remains to be seen whether the resolution remained the same or Apple has fitted a less expensive non-Retina panel.

Fully assembled, the iPhone 5C will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 5 (8.2 mm vs 7.6 mm), but also heavier. With an iPhone 5S outmatching the iPhone 5 in terms of specifications and with an iPhone 5C that comes with similar hardware platform but being cheaper than the iPhone 5, Apple might decide to retire the latter one ahead of its time.
