iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 400x250 iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 Features and Release Date Confirmed: Fingerprint Sensor and Fall 2013, Respectively 2014

As rumors have been claiming recently, this year we  are going to see the fingerprint sensor incorporated in the iOS device and the first Apple model to be wearing this recognition system is going to be the iPhone 5S, followed by the iPhone 6, which is believed to arrive at the middle of 2014.

BGR News posted recently in one of their reports, a part of Michael Barrett’s (Paypal’s ranking executive) statement regarding the highly rumored security features that Apple is about to implement in their upcoming smartphone series, in which he mentioned something about the appearance on the market of a new mobile device with a fingerprint reader incorporated later this year.

Mr Barrett didn’t point directly towards Apple’s name, but during the discussions he slipped the information according to which a huge technological provider from Cupertino, Calif. is about to launch on the market a new smartphone that will have a fingerprint reader incorporated.

Last year Apple acquired AuthenTec the biometrics security company, and ever since there has been a continuous chatter regarding what is Apple going to do in order to improve the security of the iPhone, now that they have quite the expert in this area. The most circulated rumor, discussed and strengthened even by market analysts, was that Apple is going to embed fingerprint scanners in the iconic home button of the iPhone.

Some other reports point out the fact that Apple is very keen on releasing this year on the market a product like this, and while they are setting up the last details in order for the production to go smoothly, the beginning of the production process of the iPhone 5S has been delayed, thus the release date of the long waited device has also been modified.

Apple didn’t place any official comment regarding the fingerprint sensor, but if the rumors turn out to be true, the feature will facilitate again wireless payment while firms as Paypal one of the world’s biggest electronic payment company would be one of the direct beneficiaries.

Mr Barrett also stated that the fingerprint reader on a smartphone is not an idea only Apple had. Considering the way technology evolves nowadays, we should expect to see in the near future more than one handset which could provide this kind of security measures.

Also, Mr Barrett points out towards the possibility that devices powered by Android OS to provide such features, maybe by the end of the year.

So, in September  this year we are waiting to see Apple’s new iPhone 5S. We don’t need to mention anymore the usual upgrades, but you should know that among the improvements you will also see a better camera, the new iOS 7 and of course, new security features which include the fingerprint reader.

More than that, the fingerprint reader will be an integrated part of the iPhone 6, which is expected to be out on the market in June 2014.
