iPhone 5S Popularity Significantly Increased the iOS Presence in the World
According to the Kantar analytical service, the popularity of the iOS in 5 of the 9 countries studied by the experts has greatly improved thanks to very successful sales of the iPhone 5S smartphone.
Apple is very popular in Japan, Australia, UK, France and Spain. The greatest growth in demand is observed in the Land of the Rising Sun, where the iOS increased its market share by 8.6% to 57.6% within the last year. This result was largely due to an agreement with the DoCoMo, the local cellular provider.
The Japanese affection to the Apple smartphones apparently does not subside. Despite the fact that the device has been available in the market for a long time, it accounts for 40% of sales at NTT DoCoMo. The success of the iOS in the region is supported by the fact that a quarter of the iPhone users in the country purchased the iPads as well. Strange as it may seem, Japan – is the most dynamically developing market for Apple.
Meanwhile iPhone has lost some market share in the U.S., China, Germany and Italy. Last year in the first quarter of 2013 43.7% of Americans bought the iPhone, this year in the same quarter only 35.9% of all U.S. residents purchased a smartphone from Apple.
It is difficult to give an accurate estimate if the popularity of Apple devices increases or decreases. The statistics show most users select smartphones and tablets from other manufacturers, but do not forget that Tim Cook?s company is in the niche of the most expensive models. Accordingly, the rising popularity of the cheap models may not affect the income of the corporation.
