iPhone 5S Release Date And Specs : What To Expect

We have recently had news saying that Apple’s iPhone 5S will have a release date on September 10 at an event that will take place. So obviously the first time you hear something like this about Apple’s new flagship you go online an check all the rumors and try to make the best of it.
But no matter that. We’re way ahead of you. Here’s what you need to know.
A lot has changed for Apple since its first iPhone release in 2007. With the competition that arises from Android devices, Apple’s sales have dropped and Samsung and LG phones prospered.
Latest research from IDC, the market research firm, have said that its shares on the global market of smartphones have dropped 13.2% in the last quarter of this year. Devices that run on Android now run the market with 79.3% and 69.1% during the same period last year.
But iPhones still have a market for them as they keep selling, old models as well as new models. The latest smartphone released by Apple last year, the iPhone 5 comprised 52% os iPhone sales in the last quarter. This according to data gathered by CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners). You’re probably wondering about the remaining 48% of the sales and where those went. Well, let’s just say that iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S still got it, with many people still being pleased with their performance and not to mention their lower price.
So there are a lot of challenges for Apple to face. That of making its buyers content with the new features that the iPhone 5S (if that will even be its name, as we do not know yet) will have and whether it will be considered reasonable competition for other recent releases of competitors as Samsung, LG, HTC and not to mention Motorola.
So we will no longer go on with this introduction as you have probably got the point of the pressure Apple is currently under. Here’s what you can expect from the iPhone 5S.
iPhone 5S Specs
The Fingerprint Sensor
In 2012 Apple bought the AuthenTec company, that developed a fingerprint sensor technology, for $356 million. The company agreed that Apple will include the new technology in his new device. This new feature is one of the most awaited one. It will be scratch resistant, covered in sapphire and it will appear on the convex home button.
The Size
Regarding the size, the iPhone 5S is rumored to have the same size as its predecessor which would only be natural as this is not a new release, but simply an upgrade to the last smartphone it launched. This weekend, the website 9to5Mac posted some pictures from a Vietnamese website that mocked the iPhone5S and iPhone 5C or the iPhone 6 which will be a less expensive plastic-designed iPhone.
There were also reports in June from Reuters that Apple was testing some new screens, a 4.7 inch and 5.7 inch one, for the phones it will launch next year.
The Camera With Slow-Motion Video
So it has been said that the iPhone 5S will feature a 12-megapixel camera. The report came from Tinh te, relayed by iPhone in Canada. This was happening in April this year, and just last month 9to5 Mac reported that this camera will also be able to record video at 120 FPS. Which will allow the video to play in slow-motion.
The Dual LED Flash
Also related reports from Cult of Mac showed leaked photos of the iPhone 5S parts. The photos showed a cutout on the back of the camera. This would probably be a good place to put a dual LED flash, which would be an interesting feature if you would want to take photos where the light conditions are optimal.
The Composition
Both the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S have glass backs. The iPhone’s back is made out of aluminum on the other hand. But according to rumors Apple may be switching again the choice of material. This time it is said that it wants to go with “liquidmetal”. This is an “indestructible” alloy that is twice as strong as titanium. According to further reports this might actually be true as Apple extended its exclusive agreement with Liquidmetal until 2014.
The colors
iPhones have been available in the same black or white appearance since 2008 but a change seems to be in order. Cult of Mac also reported that the iPhone 5S may be available in gold also, in addition to black and white.
