An Italian company named IK Multimedia has started selling the iRing, the device announced in January at CES 2014. The gadget has nothing to do with the hypothetic iTV, as the readers might think. In fact, this innovative tech allows you to control music applications with spatial gestures.
iRing is a ring with special identification markers, which is worn on a finger. It interacts with the front camera of smartphones and tablets running the iOS. The device has broad potential. It can help you manage branded music apps like GrooveMaker with simple hand movements in the air.
The ring itself has two sides and is worn on the middle finger and does not impede playing the musical instruments or using other traditional controllers. On side has a linear dot pattern and the other side has a triangular pattern. The camera of the iPhone or iPad retains the position or movement of the ring, and the application converts the data into instructions for various musical applications.
The iRing technology has been introduced to the main applications from the IK Multimedia (GrooveMaker, DJ Rig, AmpliTube, SampleTank, VocaLive , etc.). So DJs, guitarists, vocalists, bassists, sound engineers, producers and keyboard players are able now to bring their performance to a new level. At the same time, the company is not going to stop there and plans to collaborate with the developers of the third-party applications in the near future.
The iRing can be ordered on the official website of the company at a price of 19 euros. It is available in three colors – white, silver and green.
