Is Apple Working At A Hybrid MacBook?

Hybrid MacBook 400x250 Is Apple Working At A Hybrid MacBook?

A new subject is hot this period when it comes to iOS. It is about  the Windows 8 hybrids which seem to be very appreciated. The question is: should Apple become one of the Windows 8 hybrids technology  producers?

This week an Apple patent revealed the idea of a convertible laptop which in certain configurations has a detachable display based on touch and a base station with a keyboard. The interesting thing is that both have the possibility of transmitting power and communicating wirelessly.

In fact the new MacBook would actually be a combination between iPad and the present  MacBook. Or, at least this is what the Windows 8 “partners” – for instance Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo estimate.

From our point of view, this is a great challenge, as, when it comes to the tablet you want a small device and if it is light and thin it is a perfect one. For instance let’s take the iPad 4 or even the iPad 2. When you refer to a laptop, you need a fast one as you want to handle it while proceeding more than one operation on it. So, we meet a paradigm here. The 2 features we want more from a device might be put together, but are we there yet? Is the technology so advanced as to have a good device which will bring the iPad and laptop together?

Let’s take for example HP. The HP Envy x2 tablet has two advantages, as in good battery life and a light device. Still, the disadvantage is that the Atom chip is annoying. On the one hand the Windows 8 Metro is fine, but, on the other hand, the serious multitasking is out. Also, while the light desktop productivity is good, the more-demanding games (when it comes to memory for instance) are not so cool.

Let’s take the Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet. Whereas it has a laptop-class performance,as it has the  Intel Ivy Bridge chip, it is thicker and heavier compared to an iPad and what’s worse, is that it doesn’t have a long battery life.

What do you think? Should Apple come with a hybrid MacBook or you think that the tablet and laptop can not be combined into a useful device? Do you find this kind of device a necessary one?  Do you think it will be a complete Apple solution that will solve all the other devices problems? And, what’s more important, would Apple really release such a device?

Also, what we want to add is the compared quality of the processors. Whereas Intel is coming out with the efficient Haswell processors, the Apple company will release a more powerful A7 chip.
