Jailbreak iOS 6 and iOS 6.0.1 using Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 Tool
If you do not own a Mac and you were impatiently waiting for an update of the notorious SnowBreeze tool, we have great news for you. Yesterday we updated our Download section with the latest version of Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 that brings support for jailbreaking your pre-A5 device that is powered by either iOS 6 or iOS 6.1 firmware version.
Up next you will find a full step by step guide to jailbreak your iOS 6 or iOS 6.1 device using the latest version of SnowBreeze. Please keep in mind that the guide was created for Windows users only and the jailbreak solution we will detail next is a tethered one and does not work with A5 devices like the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 nor the old bootrom 3GS. Following this guide will make you able to jailbreak only pre-A5 devices that include the iPhone 4 , Apple iPad first generation or iPod Touch 4th generation.
Those being said let us get started and jailbreak some idevices!
How To Jaibreak iOS 6, 6.01 using Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7
Step 1. Head to our download page located here, and download a copy of the famous Sn0wBreeze tool. Scrool down to the SnowBreeze section and fetch the latest version.
Step 2. Unzip the downloaded file somewhere on your desktop, right-click on snowbreeze-v2.9.7 then select the run as administrator option.
Step 3. Click on the OK button then proceed to browsing for IPSW by selecting the Browse button. You you are not aware of the location of your firmware version 6.0 or 6.01 you can easily move forward by simply downloading it by selecting the Download iOS Firmware option. You if don’t succeed this way either , our download page is also ready to help you with all firmware version released up to this date. For a smooth process it is recommended that you move the needed firmware file directly on you Desktop.
Step 4. After you choose the correct IPSW file that matches you device, you will be prompted with a message that informs you the file was verified and good to go. Just click on the Next button and move froward.
Step 5.? Now, select the Simple Mode and agree to Hacktivation by clicking the Yes button. Head to your Desktop and find the IPSW file that was created.
Step 6. You will have to place you device in DFU mode. If you don’t know how to do this follow this step-by-step guide here. After entering DFU mode click on the Start button to enter you device into PwnedDFU mode with the aid of iReb. Do not panic if you device’s screen is still black, it is supposed to stay this way for now.
Step 7. After the process of entering PwnedDFU mode is complete, run iTunes. iTunes now should display it has detected a device that is in recovery mode.? Next, by holding the SHIFT key pressed please select the Restore option then select the file SnowBreeze created (the IPSW file). The file you should select looks something like this: snowvreeze_iPhone_4-GSM-6.0-10A523. Move forward by clicking the OK button.
Step 8. Your iPhone will now perform a normal restore process just like you were accustomed to. The only difference you will see is the Sn0wBreeze snowflake logo on your iPhone screen, because this time the restore is performed using a custom firmware version.
Step 9.? Wait for the restore process to complete then finish the setup process. By now you should be back to your normal Home screen.
Step 10. Voila! Cydia should be now present on your iPhone’s second page. Like I said earlier this is a tethered jailbreak solution so, in order to use Cydia you will have to tether boot your device.
Step 11. Place you device again into DFU mode just like you did at step number 6.
Step 12. Locate the iBooty folder that should be present on your Desktop, open it, right-click on iBooty, then select Run.
Step 13. Find you device in the drop down list then select Start. The device will now perform a tether boot process so you can use the Cydia app.
Step 14. Once back on your iPhone’s Home screen, locate that open Cydia, you should be able to use it now.
