Jailbreak iPad 4 running iOS 6.x using evasi0n on Windows

You have an iPad 4 and you want to enjoy more benefits of it? Well, then you are in the right place, as you may follow the step-by-step guide provided in this article and jailbreak your device. The good thing is that using the provided tool (which is the new evasion tool) you won’t be forced to reboot each time your device is empty battery. Yes, you guessed that it will be an untethered jailbreak, the difference between it and the tethered jailbreak being that with the second you need a computer nearby each times you are low battery.

Another advantage of using evasion is that, as you will see, if you follow the steps correctly, the operation is not a very complicated one and it is easy to be followed.  So, just take your iPad 4 and what you will need extra is the computer with Windows operating system.

Note: Don’t worry, the evasion tool is also available on Linux and Mac, but they have dedicated articles, as the steps might differ because of the interface of each operating system.

Windows? But which of the versions? Well, you will be pleasant surprised to find out that the evasion tool works on every version of Windows, from Winfows 7, Vista to Windows XP.

Jailbreaking your Ipad 4 – Step-by-step tutorial

Ready? Steady? Go! We will start the tutorial with the logical steps. What you should take into consideration is that each step is important and should be followed in order to have a succesful operation at the end.

Step 1/ Go to our downloads page and download evasion for Windows. Be sure you click on the Windows version and not Mac or Linux, as the exe is customized on each operating system.

Step 2/ After you extract the download, save it  on the desktop of your computer (in order to find it easy). Next, you should open the evasion folder and you will see the evasion.exe file. You right-click on the exe file and select the option to Run as administrator. Pay attention as a User Access Control might appear on the window. If it happens so, then you should just click yes, select it and continue.

Step 3/ This is the only optional step, as not all of you have pass codes. So, if you have a pass code, then you should go through this step. If not, just proceed to step 4. In the case you have a pass code, then you have to disable it while you go through all the steps of the jailbreak. So, in order to disable it, you should do the following: Go to Settings, then tap on General, select Pass Code Lock and you have the option to Turn Pass Code Off. Just select it, as meanwhile you might be asked to insert it again in order to confirm the account. And you are ready for step 4.

Step 4/ Now this is easy. You should just plug-in your iPad 4 to your PC and proceed to step 5.

Step 5/  Evasion automatically detects the device you are using. Once the process has been done, the Jailbreak button you saw on the page, becomes active and clickable.

Step 6/ Now all you have to do is begin the actual jailbreak. You will do this by clicking the Jailbreak button

Step 7/ This is the step where you have to wait, as Evasion will do everything needed in order to continue with success. Some of the steps include: preparing jailbreak data, rebooting the device, uploading Cydia and the Cydia package , injecting jailbreak data. You don’t need to panic if you see that this step is time-consuming, as it is perfect normal.  You can go away from the devices, as the Evasion will be in charge of the process. Your iPad 4 will be on good hands.When the tool asks you to proceed to unlocking your device, then you should go to step 8.

Step 8/ You will see the message: Unlock your device on the screen. Next you go to the Lock screen and slide in order to unlock your iPad 4. You go to the last page of your home menu (it is usually the second page, but it depends on the number of apps you have icons for) and the last saved icon will be one named “Jailbreak”. You must tap the Jailbreak app icon only one (don’t do it repeatedly as you might block the device). The screen should go black and in less than a second return to the home screen.  We insist on tapping the icon only once, in order not to block the phone and start the jailbreaking over again.

Step 9/ Here we are in the home stretch. Now it is again Evasion’s job. It will display different messages – for instance – injecting jailbreak data, injecting remount payload, Root Filesystem successfully remounted, preparing final jailbreak data. What you should know is that the iPad will reboot not once, but at least 2 times. It is perfect normal for the first reboot to take longer than the usual reboots. Your job here is not to touch the device and be patient. We recommend to leave the device to reboot, as evasion is still a new tool and it might affect the proper work of the device, if the steps are not followed correctly.

Step 10/ Here we are at the end of the jailbreak process. You will be confirmed this through a message on the screen telling you “Done”. The Evasion logo will appear on the screen of the iPad 4 once or twice, but it won’t stay for a long time.  After this, the evasion tool will lead you to the lock screen. Once you are here you will slide to Unlock your iPad and you will see the Cydia icon is now the last icon on the Home screen menu.

Now you can say that you are at the end of the process and, if you followed all the steps correctly, your iPad 4 is now jailbroken and ready to explore more apps and tweaks!

Before we end, you should read the following notes in order to be sure you do everything “by book”.

Note 1: In case you had a pass code and you were comfortable with it, you should set it again (remember that in step 3 you removed it)
