Jailbreak iPod Touch 5th Generation running iOS 6 using evasi0n on Windows

iPod Touch 5th Generation Jailbreak iPod Touch 5th Generation running iOS 6 using evasi0n on Windows

Jailbreaking our iOS device makes our life easier than expected. Enjoying great apps that help us in our daily activities or just help us relax, this means jailbreaking your device. For those of you who are not sure of what jailbreaking does, then here is a brief definition: Actually, after you jailbreak your device you will have no limitations on apps, themes and tweaks, from Apple. You are able to use software and hardware sources in order to create the jailbreak. You must know that the jailbreak is possible for the moment on iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and also on Apple TV 2.

If you are wondering what operating system you need in order to perform the jailbreak, then you should know that Windows, Mac and Linux are supported, still, there are some differences in the step-by-step tutorials, so we recommend you to be very careful when you download the version, in order to choose the correct one.

You will see that this is a step-by-step tutorial for the Windows users. If you are interested in jailbreaking your device and your operating system is Mac, then follow our site in order to find the link you need to create the jailbreak.

Tools for jailbreaking the devices

The tutorial is created for the evasion tool, which is very helpful when it comes to jailbreaking. Why? Because it gives you the possibility of creating an untethered jailbreak for your device, which means you won’t need a computer around each time your device needs to reboot. All the changes will be made from the configuration and will be saved, compared to the tethered jailbreak.

Jailbreak your iPod Touch 5th Generation

Ok, now it is all set: you are using windows, you have an iOS device, then you are in the right place. You can use any version of Windows in order to create the jailbreak, from Windows 7, Vista to XP. Our tutorial is created on Windows 8, but the process is the same for any of the versions.

Step-by-step tutorial for jailbreaking your iPod Touch 5th With Evasi0n

Before we start, we must tell you that it is important to follow all the steps accordingly in order to have a succesful operation at the end. Also, we recommend you to check your battery level, as it should be over 50%. If your iPod goes dead battery, then your process of jailbreaking will be started again. Ready! Steady! Go!

Step 1/ First you should go to our downloads page and download Evasion for Windows. Be careful to choose the Windows version, as there are also available the versions for Linux and Mac.

Step 2/ Now you should extract the downloaded folder on the desktop and open it up. There you should have 3 files, one of which is the executable of the tool: evasion.exe. Right-click on it and select the third option, which is Run as administrator. A User Access Control window might pop up, then you should choose yes and continue. A screen welcoming you to the evasion tool should pop up.  Now proceed to step 3.

Step 3/ This is the only optional step according to if you have or not a pass code. If you don’t have one, then just go to step 4. In order to disable the pass code lock, you should go to Settings, tap on General and then Passcode Lock. There you should just tap on Turn Pass code off.  Now your password is disabled and you can proceed to step 4.

Step 4/ Now this is an easy step. Just plug your iPod Touch into the computer. Proceed to the next step.

Step 5/ The Evasion tool should now detect your device. A message on the screen telling you that the iPod Touch 5th Generation has been detected will appear. You will see that the jailbreak button will become active and clickable. When this happens, it is safe to go to step 6.

Step 6/ In order to begin the jailbreak, just click the jailbreak button. Easy, right?

Step 7/ If step 6 was less than a minute job, this is time-consuming. Actually, this is the step where Evasion does the job and your job is to be patient and be sure you don’t touch the device while the process. You will see a series of messages on the screen, a series of steps which will be completed. Some of these steps are: injecting jailbreak data, waiting for device reboot, waiting for device to be ready, upload Cydia and its packages (tool which will help you after the jailbreak. Just remember, sit back and don’t touch the device. If you want you can go do other things, as Evasion will do the job for you. You have to return when a flashing message will appear on the iPod’s screen.

Step 8/  The flashing message will ask you to unlock your device. Go to the lock screen and slide to unlock your device. After you do this go to the Home screen of your menu. There, the last icon created (usually it is on the second page of the menu) should be named “jailbreak”. Can you see it?  Then tap it but be sure you do this only once (in order not to block the process and lose the steps you have been working on). The screen should go black and then return to the home screen in less than a second.  The message: Alright! Remounting will start now” will appear on your iPod’s screen. We insist on tapping the jailbreak button only once.

Step 9/ Here we are in the home stretch. This is another step where Evasion will do its job, as you will see. A series of messages will appear on the iPod’s screen, such as: injecting jailbreak data, injecting remount payload, root filesystem successfully remounted, preparing final jailbreak data (together with a visual logo on the screen). What is important is that the device will reboot a few times. We strongly recommend you to let the device reboot, as the evasion tool is approximately a new one with the 5th Generation devices. Also, don’t worry if the first reboot will take more than the usual time, you should just wait. Oh, and don’t touch the device, please! You touch it, you might start all over again!

Step 10/ After all the messages in step 9 are displayed, you will see a message telling you that the Jailbreak is complete. Also, a Done message will be on the iPod’s screen. The Evasion logo will appear once or twice on the screen. Don’t worry if it stays for more than one second, it is normal. After the process ends, you will be taken to the Lock screen. After you slide to unlock the device, you will see the Cydia icon on the home screen, the last icon (right after the jailbreak icon; usually it is on the second page of the home screen).  As we already said, Cydia will help you after the jailbreak as it is a tool that helps you download other apps, from games to productivity apps. And that’s it.

You can now say that your iPod 5 is successfully jaibroken, with the help of evasion.

Before you discover your new jailbroken iPod…

We should mention some notes, just in case you need them.

Note 1: In case you previously had a pass code and it was useful, don’t forget to recreate it. Remember you removed it in the step 3 of the tutorial. You can recreate it by using the same steps, go to Settings, tap on General and then Passcode Lock, but then  tap on Turn Pass code on

Note 2:If you have any other iOS device and you’d rather jailbreak it from Mac, see our Max OS X iOS 6 tutorial. If you want to jailbreak it on Linux, then wait a little bit, as we will update the step-by-step tutorial soon.

Note 3: The tutorial was created for iPod 5, but if you have any other iOS device the steps are pretty much the same. Apple TV 2 is the one that differs but the jailbreak steps are not yet available from the FireCore team.

Note 4: If you heard of too many available apps and you are not sure which of them to download, then follow our top tweaks of 2012 post and the must have jailbreak apps for iOS 6 post.

Before we end, we must congratulate the evad4rs team as they did a great job with the untethered evasion tool. If you would like to donate to the evad3rs (remember the tool can be downloaded for free, but we are sure donating will get them create other great improvements for the tool), you can do it by following the link available on the evasion jailbreak tool window.
