Latest OTA Update For Verizon Galaxy S4 Rooted

As you know, not long ago a new software update was released by Verizon for the Samsung Galaxy S4 device. The new update came out with some fresh features and security improvements. Moreover, the update was released having some patches for previous security exploits so the smartphone can’t be rooted anymore. But, for those of you who were eager to root your smartphones keep in mind that a new rooting method was released by the XDA team.
We must say that the new software update brought by Verizon was pretty weird if we think about it. The carrier surprised its Android users by replacing the usual air update method with a desktop installer for Mac and PC – the Software Upgrade Assistant. The installer is helping you to download the big 350 MB update file that can be installed into your phone right after by using the original USB cable.
As far as we saw the new Samsung update comes out with a large palette of fresh features, and one of the most amazing is the possibility to store apps on the smartphone’s SD card which makes more space in the internal memory. Another crucial feature is the support brought for the KNOX security set of Samsung, which substantially raised the chances for the Galaxy S4 device to be accepted for use by the government of the United States. The not so good news is that the new update is coming with a fresh bootloader which blocks the root access and avert further rooting efforts. Of course the users were not that happy with this change, so they acted and offered a bounty for the XDA team in order to make them search for new exploits that will make the device available for the root process once more.
Not long ago on the XDA forums was posted a tutorial related to how to root the device by using an SD card. The new method was discovered by a few XDA members and between them we saw the name of DooMLoRD and PWM978. It looks like the new root method is not asking you to run a pre-rooted image or to erase the data of your phone. Meanwhile, the bounty went up to more than $3,000 in just a week and it wasn’t requested by anyone because the bootloader was not unlocked yet. We know that a root access is not that much, but if this is available now we are pleased.
