LG G3 Leaked Screenshot Shows New Optimus UI

The LG G2 flaghsip was unveiled last year in new York City on August 7 and it was released a month later, in Spetember last year. The LG G2 is the successor to 2012′s Optimus G and the 2013 Optimus G Pro phablet. It features a 5.2 inch IPS display capable of a Full High Definition resolution (1080p), a 2.26 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 System on Chip with 2 GB of RAM and support for LTE or LTE Advanced networks. The LG G2 comes with 16 or 32 GB of internal storage that is not expandable; it also comes with a non removable 3000 mAh battery. It must be said that in order to conserve battery life, the G2 implements a panel self refresh system where if the display is showing static content, it is refreshed solely from framebuffer memory allowing other display components to become idle.
Even though it is a smartphone from 2013, the LG G2 is a very good one and it can easily be compared to the iPhone 5S or the Galaxy S4. But LG is going to unveil its 2014 flagship the LG G3, as the other major players in the mobile market (Samsung, HTC and Sony) have already unveiled their new flagship devices: Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 (which was just released yesterday), HTC announced the second generation HTC One (codenamed M8) whcih was released last month at the same day as its unveiling (March 25) and Sony unveiled the Sony Xperia Z2. LG is also going to unveil a new flagship this year, and we already have leaked information. The latest leaks come in the form of screenshots showing the user interface of the upcoming flagship.
Speaking of leaks and rumors, the LG G3 is rumored to feature a larger 5.5 inch display capable of rendering in Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels); like the recently released Galaxy S5 it will be water and dust proof and it will feature a 13 MP rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) that can record videos in 4K resolution. Reports about the LG G3′s System on Chip are a bit contradictory as some of them suggest it will be powered by a quad core CPU, while other suggest that the LG G3 will be powered by an octo core CPU. On the other hand, when it comes to the amount of RAM that the LG G3 will feature, all reports have settled on 3 GB.
The LG G3 will feature not just upgraded hardware, but also improved software. As mentioned in the first paragraph the latest leak is a screenshot featuring the Optimus user interface. While version 3.0 of the Optimus user interface looks similar to Samsung’s own user interface (TouhcWiz), it seems that LG will go in a different direction with the next version of the Optimus user interface. The leaked screenshot (which can be seen below) suggests an Optimus user interface with a clean, flat aesthetic. Other than that, the screenshot doesn’t offer much insight about the upcoming flagship form LG, but you can expect more leaks in the coming weeks. We will keep you up to date so stay tuned for the latest news regading the LG G3 smartphone.
