As most of you know, the Nokia Lumia 520 is the best selling Windows device to date as it managed to sell more units than any other Windows phone, PC or tablet. Its successor and long rumored Windows Phone 8 based Nokia Lumia 525, was announced officially last week, without much fanfare, just like the recently released second generation iPad mini. As we mentioned, Nokia Lumia 525 is the successor to the best selling Windows Phone device, the Nokia Lumia 520 which is very popular these days; it seems that the new Windows Phone 8 Lumia 525 has almost the same design and features as the previous one. The camera is similar with the one on the Lumia 520, a 5 MP rear camera sensor with no flash and, there is no front facing camera (similar to the Lumia 520); the new Lumia 525 also includes a dual core 1 GHz CPU, a 4 inch WVGA IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and it comes with a storage capacity of 8 GB.

The most important difference between the two Windows Phone 8 smartphones is the system memory. Nokia Lumia 520 has 512 MB of RAM, and that became a real problem when users wanted to play games or run some apps that required 1 GB of RAM. The new Nokia Lumia 525 fixes this inconvenience as it has 1 GB of RAM; this way Nokia “repairs” the mistake made with the Nokia Lumia 520. Since the improvements of the new Nokia Lumia 525 are almost non existent, consumers may not be very excited to buy it. The Lumia 525 smartphone will also have a shell that can be removed; this users will be able to change the colors of the smartphone. The Nokia Lumia 525 will be released in black, orange, yellow and white color options and as we just mentioned, you will be able to swap the colors via removable shells.

Even though Nokia`s Lumia 520 managed to increase Windows Phone 8 sales in United States, Nokia won`t release it there initially. Instead, Nokia chose to release the upcoming Lumia 525 in most countries throughout Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific – countries in these regions will be the first to receive the Nokia Lumia 525. However, Nokia mentioned that initially the Lumia 525 smartphone will be available this month, on December 14th in Singapore for SGD249 (199 dollars). At the moment, there are no details about Nokia Lumia 525′s release in the US or UK or about its pricing model. We will keep you up to date with the latest informations about the upcoming Nokia Lumia 525.
