Nokia Lumia 930 235x250 Lumia 630 And Lumia 930 Are The First Windows Phone 8.1 Smartphones

The Windows Phone 8.1 update is going to be released on April 14th to all developers, but also to all Windows Phone users. Users will be able to install the Windows Phone 8.1 update thanks to Microsoft’s developer preview program for Windows Phone. The dev preview program for WP lets users install the latest updates, regardless of their carrier. As its name implies, it is designed for Windows Phone app developers, but everyone can access the developer preview program for Windows Phone and it is pretty simple to use.

Recently Nokia unveiled two new Lumia smartphones that are going to run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system. The two Windows Phone 8.1 exclusive smarthpones are the Nokia Lumia 630 and the Nokia Lumia 930 and they will be released this Summer, in June 2014. The Nokia Lumia 930 is very similar to the high end Nokia Lumia Icon, but it will be Windows Phone 8.1 exclusive, while the Nokia Lumia 630 will be the low budget companion of the Nokia Lumia 930.

As we mentioned above, the Lumia 930 is very similar to the high end Nokia Lumia Icon and it features the same specs: a 5 inch AMOLED, capable of a High Definition resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a pixels per inch density of 441 and a 16:9 aspect ratio; it also features the same 2.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm 800 System on Chip and 20 MP PureView rear camera with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and dual LED flash, Optical Image stabilization (OIS) and the ability to capture videos in High Definition (1080p) at 30 fps. It also keeps Nokia Lumia Icon’s design, except a colored back (you can choose between orange, green, white and black).

The Nokia Lumia 930 is a high end device with specs that reflect that. If you want the best Windows Phone 8.1 exclusive smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 930 is for you, though if you already own a Lumia Icon there may be no point to upgrade since they are basically the same smartphone. The Lumia 630 on the other hand is a low end smartphone, featuring a 4.5 inch display and a Snapdragon 400 System on Chip. It also features 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded thanks to a microSD card slot.

The Nokia Lumia 630 also comes with a 4G variant, named the Nokia Lumia 635. Besides being able to connect to 4G networks, the Lumia 635 also comes glossy removable covers. Other than that, both smartphones are the same. Both smartphones also include dual SIMs and on screen buttons in Windows Phone 8.1. The on screen buttons come with haptic feedback and the dual SIM mode works by splitting the phone dialer and messaging into two separate Live Tiles. Both the Lumia 630 and the Lumia 635 look like the Nokia Lumia 620.

It is also worth noting that despite being low budget devices, they don’t feel cheap and will be priced at $159, which is decent for a low budget offering. Of course, with only 512 MB of RAM both the Lumia 630 and the Lumia 635 are limited as most recent games and apps require at lest (and often over) 512 MB of RAM. However, as low budget devices they seem to be pretty good and they may actually be exactly what Nokia needs in order togain some market share in the low budget segment. We would like to know what you think about the Nokia Lumia 930 and the Nokia Lumia 630 (and its 4G variant, the Lumia 635) smartphones so please leave a message in the dedicated section below.
